The Endless Woods

Everyone knows fairy tales, they are read to us as children. Every fairy tale has a happy ending, or at least our versions do. This isn't an ordinary fairy tale, there is no 'happy ending', only lies and stories that make us believe there is. Follow the story of four teens that were about to start a war. (This is the same book as the other but with a few mistakes. I had to redo this because I wanted to enter it into the contest. Tell me which one you guys like! Enjoy~)

Chapter 2:

Five weeks passed, and it was like the Hunger Games, the supplies from the SSS had quickly run out or were broken. The food was low, since it was winter, and all the animals were in hiding. Throughout these weeks they tried to think of ways to get back home, or to the SSS. As the days went by, the group was left with only a few options and taking a chance was too risky. Especially since their team was very weak from malnourishment. They tried countless times to try and follow their way back home, but they always end back at their camp. Tom had tried to follow the river, but that had lead to a very steep waterfall, and it was too risky to jump into the water below. Luisa had tried to stay sane by working together to farm and pick fruits together with Ana, who didn't seem to mind. Then, winter came. There were no warm clothes and almost froze during the night. During winter, they tried to do the best they can with what they got. Ana came up with a plan to walk upstream and see where it leads. The only problem was the snow, and, the beast. A while back, Luisa and Ana tried to go upstream to try and escape but stopped when she found a trail of blood. They followed it until they reached a hairy beast. It had eyes as sharp as daggers. Its teeth were dyed red and in its hands was a person. Well, half of one at least. We tried to run back to camp as quickly and quietly as we could.

Unfortunately for us, Mother Nature was bored and wanted a show. Luisa accidently stepped on a twig and it cracked with a faint snap. The hairy beast immediately turned around to look, but we were long gone. While they were running, Ana fell and landed on a branch, she looked fine, until she looked down. The branch's sharp tip cut into her skin and what was worse was that she was stuck in a tight spot, right in between the muscles in her knee. Luisa looked back to find her stuck and tried to pull it out, the only thing that was happening was the sharp pain from her leg as she started to lose more blood. Then they heard and knew that the beast was coming and there was no time to call for help. They had to think fast as it slowed down to track us down. They dived into the waters and hoped to survive the fall. The beast would not enter the water as if something was preventing it. They found this way as a chance to escape and slithered by it. They reached camp, bloody and exhausted. Yet, a huge problem still remained, Ana's leg was still stabbed with a branch that refused to ungrasp. They didn't know what else to do, but to just try and pull it out. It was painful and bloody, but after multiple tries, they finally got it out. Ana, was completely white, due to blood loss, and was on the verge of passing out.

"Great, now what do we do?" Tom said with an ugly expression on his face.

"Calm down Tom, I'm sure she'll be fi-" Luisa started to suggest till Tom cut her off.

"Luisa, I'm not blaming you, but she would've been ok if you didn't ask her to go with you." Tom said angrily.

"Don't blame my sister! She wasn't going to go out there alone and Ana insisted on going with her!" Aden said defending Luisa.

"Stop fighting already you guys, and I'm fine, I just need to rest a bit." A small weak voice declared.

All three of them looked down to Ana covering her wound with a torn piece of cloth.

"A-are you sure Ana?" Tom said speaking with a shiver in his voice.

"I'm fine Tom, and it's nobody's fault, I fell and hurt myself." Ana murmured.

"If you say so." Tom says as he gives a grim look to Aden and Luisa.

"Tom, I'm fine so you can stop giving everyone death stares. We have to work together more now that I'm injured and we have to make sure the beast doesn't come near us." Ana said tiredly.
