Cleaning the whole camping ground of tents and stuff took us an entire day to complete. Fortunately for us, we had enough manpower to speed up the process or it would have taken us even more time to clear it. When we returned home, Sam informed me of what items did we gain or what items can be used for other jobs because of their condition.
The sheer amount of random stuff that people brought with them kind of scared me. We also found clothes, food, weapons, building materials, and even drugs and alcohol.
The drugs were easily burned, as I won't let any men of mine get a drug addiction in this world.
While we were cleaning, the first convoy arrived at our new home and as quickly as it got here, it left towards the Station to prepare for the next trip.
With the additional manpower, we begin to repair the outpost and prepare a place where we could create some fields for planting crops. Better be prepared than cry when you got surprised by something dangerous like hunger.
For the following week, we got into a routine of repairing and searching for a needle in the haystack, fortunately for us, we managed to find the entrance, but the bad news is the fact that the door is nuclear explosion-proof which means that we don't have any chance of getting through it with explosives.
The process of repairing the buildings and the facilities was almost finished, in the first two days it was rather slow, but with the additional people that joined to complete this job, the results just get better every day.
Andrew and his "apprentices" begin to work on the helicopter, but from how it looked, I know that it will take a long time before we will be able to use it.
Fortunately for us, the fuel won't go bad even after ten years, as four years ago SinteKCO managed to create a variant of normal fuel that will last longer than the normal fuel, another bonus was the fact that the pollution done by the normal fuel got cut in half with the combustible. This thing was enough reason for me to make a job for fuel gathering, the only problem was the fact that we didn't have a place to store it in large amounts. One idea was getting our hands on some trucks that transport fuel and somehow get the trailer on the ground, but this plan has its pluses and minuses.
Another interesting piece of news that I got from my teams was the fact that they spotted a biker around the west prison near Senoia, at first I didn't care that much about it, but as I begin to think about it is kind of suspicious. But, right now I don't have time and resources to send a team to investigate that matter, we need to deal with the bunker as fast we can before something bad may happen.
The only thing we can do right now is to continue searching for clues or another entrance for that damn bunker.
<??? POV>
"Sergeant, how's the food situation?"
"Bad, sir. We barely have enough for another four days at a minimum intake of one MRE per day. "
"Which means that in the near future, fifty-seven men and women will die of hunger?"
"That or we will open the door to the control room and the freaks will get us."
"You know that even if we open that door we will fight to the death, it doesn't matter how we die, the only thing that matters is the fact that we may have a chance to survive if someone finds this place."
"Sir, this place isn't even on the map, how could someone find it?"
"Clues, Milles, clues. I "forget" to pick some notes hinting about this place and its general location, hopefully, someone will find it, even if that happens in the future.
Just as I was about to continue one of my soldiers got my attention?
"Lieutenant, we got a sign, there is movement above the entrance. Should I open the camera and see what is happening?"
"What are you waiting for? "
Five minutes later on the big monitors of the control room, we saw the live video feed of the camping ground and the live video feed of the outpost. I have to say that I was surprised when I saw it. The outpost that was once abandoned because of the freaks danger is now thriving with life. People were working on different things here and there, they even had guards that took turns patrolling the inner perimeter. At the camping ground, we saw another group of people, probably from the same group looking at the entrance. The young man that stood in front of it, their leader I presume, looked confused. He probably doesn't know what to do now, which is true, the bunker won't be damaged by a nuclear warhead what can some humans do to it?
"Can we somehow get in contact with them?"
"We can try their radio, but the only problem will be how long it will take for them to check their radio."
"Just try it, at least we may have a chance of surviving."
"Right away sir!"
<Eric POV>
"Nothing, we can't do shit to this thing. Let's go back guys, we don't anything to do here anymore."
Back at our new home, I decided to speak with Paul about our next move, but just as I about to find him, Olivia contacts me on my walkie talkie.
"Eric, you need to come to the radio station, we may have a clue about that bunker."
"I'll be there in a second."
When I arrived there, I saw Paul, Olivia, and Kenny waiting for me while they talked with someone on the radio.
"What did you guys found and who's our new friend?"
"Eric, the person on the other end is Lieutenant Maxson, leader of the Maxson Chapter or that what he says."
"What Chapter? What does that mean?"
"Well, from what he told us, their chapters are special units that were tasked to deal with threats that could endanger the nation. They are like the special forces of the special forces."
"So where are they right now?"
"In the bunker, this place was their home before they were forced to move into the bunker. You should speak with him, he seems to be a good guy."
Moving closer to the microphone, I decided to see what does this Chapter has to say and maybe we can help each other.
Creation is hard, cheer me up!
