The Ceremony (2)

When Jake heard his name, he walked to the podium along with four others. Today will be the day that would decide whether he would finally be free or not.

He always hoped to awaken the powerful combat profession.

He placed his hand on the crystal ball. Energy from the ball entered his body, poking his every cell, and stimulating his body.

This energy is non-attributed energy. It can only awaken what is already inside of the person.

The school conducts the awakening process for free, sponsored by the Federal Alliance and so it chose the cheaper way.

If one has deep pockets, they could go to Awakener Association in the cities to awaken. They possess, attributed crystal balls.

These would stimulate only the same attribute as them. For this to work, the person should have that specific element in them at least in minute proportion. Without that, the process would be a failure.

Success or failure this way costs a lot. Even then it only helps with the element, not the profession. One becoming a mage or knight or something other depends on one's luck.

After a few seconds, the announcement came.

"Jasmine Azura, Light Mage, Potential - A."

"Jake Kaizer, Water Mage, Potential - C."

...

...

Jake got upset when he heard that he has awakened the water element with a C potential.

Water is considered one of the weakest elements.

Though every element can be considered unique in its own way there are still restrictions.

Most of the time, Humans fight either on land or sky, which gives hunters with earth, metal, and wind elements while fighting in such surroundings. Not much of fights occur on the water as of present.

The Seas are considered forbidden. The only places available would be rivers or lakes which gives the homecourt advantages but with not many fights happening around huge water sources, it's still considered weak.

Moreover, unlike fire or lighting, the combat power is less for the water element. Killing something using water takes a lot of time.

Jake who wanted an element that can help him progress was devastated.

Even awakening the light element would have helped him a lot.

Jake from the beginning of his life has a weak body. No matter how much he tried he couldn't improve as much as his classmates.

He was ridiculed and bullied because he was weak. Adding salt to the wound, being a topper in theoretical studies made him a target of a lot of bullies.

He wanted to get out of this shitty world when he awakens but fate laughed at him. He awakened the water element, not even its cousin element Ice.

Even the weakest element light would have helped him to become a healer, which would have protected him from bullies.

Light and Dark elements are rarest and whenever someone awakens them, the authorities pay a lot of attention to them.

No idiot would wantonly hurt someone or people with these rare elements as they are highly sought after.

Light has the least combat power, making it the weakest element for fighting but because of its healing factor, it was sought after.

On top of this, his potential is only C, which is the lowest. The highest rank he can reach is C-Rank. Though there is a possibility of reaching higher ranks, it's very rare.

It is not easy to crossover one's potential. It requires a lot of resources and being the son of a single mother of commoner background is not going to help him achieve that.

Jake sighed as he walked straight to his classroom where further instructions will be given.

While on the way he checked his status.

'Status'

Profession: Mage, Water

Title(s): Son of @#$%&

Blessing(s): None

Innate Talent: Underwater vision and breathing (God-level)

Level: 0

Rank: F

Strength: 5 (20)

Stamina: 5 (20)

Agility: 5 (20)

Intelligence: 10 (40)

Mana: 100 (400)

Status: Carrier of Curse of Mortality

[Demi-god race: Born out of a god and a mortal. Experience needed to cross a level is doubled but the attribute points earned are also doubled. Compared to mortals, these can gain godhood easily.

The race is hidden from prying eyes except that of demigods or gods who are way more powerful than you.]

[Son of @#$%&: Being the Son of @#$%&, you gain a 1000% attack and defense bonus when using element magic pertaining to Water.]

[Curse of Mortality: A mortal born with god's blood shall naturally be under this curse. This was more of a boon than a curse depending on point of view. Without strength to contain divinity, the body shall shatter.

The curse would take a major part of the attributes of the mortal to contain divinity.

This curse will disappear if the mortal holds an artifact that can contain divinity or when the host reaches a sufficient level. The level to reach or the power level of the artifact depends on the divinity.

If you don't strike to work hard despite difficulties, it would sure be a curse.]

When Jake checked those ridiculous things, he was flabbergasted. This felt utterly ridiculous.

Many thoughts swarmed his head. All are questions that don't have any answers.

'Why is my race Demi-God? Shouldn't it be human?'

'Is that mean that my father is a god? I'm pretty sure mom isn't or is she?'

'If he is a god, why was he never there for me or Mom? Shouldn't he help take care of his child?'

'I always thought that he abandoned us for some other woman or died.'

Jake sighed, ' Whatever, I'll deal with him when I get to meet him if I could.'

'This demi-god thing is like a boon and curse. Now I need double experience to gain a level but the attributes I gain are good.'

'Though this is good, it seems my curse shelves half of them.'

'Is my curse the reason for my physical weakness?'

'If it is saving me from certain death, should it be called a curse? It should be called a curse. I have to work twice as others but gain half of what other gains. I only gain a quarter of gain for my work.'

'This is too much. I can only enjoy those benefits if I can find a way to make my curse disappear.'

'If I die early, everything I work would be for naught.'

'Now coming to the next segment, I have a title and it says Son of @#$%&. Son of what? and why is it a title? Moreover, this title gives me a bonus.'

'Wait, what's with my Innate Talent? Underwater vision and breathing and that too God-level, what is even that?'

'Should I only fight in water?'

'God-level talent? There is never a grade such as that or is it one of the restricted information?'

As he was deeply pondering, he reached his class. His thoughts broke when he heard a cold snort.
