Reason and Another Meeting (1)

Arren didn't know what his name was, so he just saved it that way. The alpha was the only one on his father's list of people to contact when looking for him. Right, his father had no idea he had Mister Investigator's contact information!

Should he call him, he wondered as he stared at the screen of his phone. What if the alpha ignores him? That alpha was snubbed in some way and was difficult to deal with. He always appeared calm, and Arren's charms had no effect on him.

Perhaps, he was busy? After all, he was investigating a case. But... Arren didn't have a choice. It was either him or some alpha or omega in this cafe who would treat him.

He made a decision, clicked the number, and the call was placed. He had always been straightforward. He would follow through on any decision he made. It was also a situation in which he couldn't hesitate; he was freezing, okay?

Arren waited and stared at the screen of his phone, his hand trembling slightly. He hoped the hot alpha would respond. What if he deleted his phone number? The call was ignored because it was an unknown number. He was beginning to get paranoid as a chill slowly invaded his body.

His eyes widened, and he almost screamed when the call went through. Mister Royal Investigator answered his call!

"Hello, do you know who I am? I am the son of Duke Katz. Arren, the one you met last time," Arren said over the phone as soon as it was answered.

While he hoped the alpha would answer his phone, he also braced himself for a negative outcome. However, Mister Investigator responded!

Arren sighed with relief as if his savior was finally here. He wasn't some fucking damsel in distress, but he could pretend to be one right now in order to get someone to buy him a cup of coffee. What was the point of having dignity if he was going to freeze to death?

Contrary to what Arren assumed, Spade of course saved his contact number. Arren didn't even need to introduce himself because the other party already knew who he was. Spade hadn't expected the omega to contact him at this time.

Just a few moments ago, when they were in a meeting, the Duke wanted to immediately storm out of Spade's study in a hurry after receiving word that his son had gone missing. Despite his rage, the Duke informed Spade of what had happened. After listening to the Duke, Spade fell silent as he actually didn't know how to react. Arren's method of sneaking out of their heavily guarded mansion was so inventive that even Spade wondered how the omega came up with it.

Spade's amber eyes glowed with amusement, and a ghost of a smile appeared in his lips. The omega's rebellious and reckless nature was also one of the reasons he didn't want to tell Arren the location where Ashton was being held, because who knew what the omega would do? Just by this incident, Spade knew he made the right decision on this matter.

Over the past few weeks, Spade had read a lot of reports about Arren and his actions in these recent years. It was not to monitor him but to get to know the omega more and also a part of investigating for possible suspects behind Ashton.

The more Spade learned about Arren, the more interested he became in the omega. Under the guise of investigation, he would occasionally inquire about Arren to the Duke. And, despite the fact that the questions seemed unrelated to the topic, the Duke chose not to comment on them. At this point, Spade's interest couldn't be more obvious.

Spade waited a few days for the omega to contact him, but he didn't receive any, and he only found out a few days later that the Duke confiscated Arren's phone and other gadgets to prevent him from communicating with his so-called friends. Which Spade approved so much.

Spade has been extremely busy over the last few weeks. Not only did he have to deal with the investigation, which had made little progress despite the assistance of black intel, but he also had a lot to deal with as the Emperor. However, no one was aware of his involvement in the investigation. The Duke's frequent visits were kept secret, and only a few of his most trusted subordinates were aware of them. It was better to be cautious.

Spade had not expected the omega to contact him at this time. Arren had just sneaked out of the house if he wasn't mistaken. He didn't react fast as Spade stared at the caller id and confirmed it was real. As he answered the phone, his eyes and an expectant expression flashed across his face.

A sweet and excited voice traveled in his ears through the phone. Spade's amber pupils darkened slightly as he clicked his tongue and leaned back in his chair.

"Yeah, I remember you," he muttered as an answer, suppressing the desire and a strange feeling creeping from within.

Arren was still ecstatic at the time, unaware that he was digging a deeper hole for himself as an impending crisis loomed in his head. Spade, a beast, had set his sights on him, but here he was, delivering himself on a silver platter like the cute little prey he was.

In the cafe, a cold chill ran up his back as Arren unconsciously shivered. He furrowed his brows and reached for the back of his head. What was that? But then he shook his head, it must be the cold. Damn, he needed that cup of coffee now. His voice became even more melodic and playful as he tried to persuade his mister investigator to treat him.

"Are you busy?" Arren asked, straight to the point. In his condition, he didn't have much time to appreciate the investigator's deep voice. His other hand fiddled with the drenched hat as he waited for the alpha's response.

"Mn, why are you asking?" the alpha answered instantly, his deep voice tickling Arren's ears as they instantly turned crimson.

Arren closed his eyes as he cursed. Could he please stop seducing him now that he was about to die of hypothermia?

Arren swallowed some saliva as he chewed on his lips before inquiring again, "You're really busy? Like you can't leave that for an hour or something?" he paused before hurriedly adding, "can you please... stop by where I am? It was just... I am really cold,"

Arren's teeth began to clatter. In his current state, it was a terrible decision to enter the café with full-blast air conditioning.

"Where are you?" In a daze, the alpha's domineering voice woke him up as he asked for Arren's location. Arren liked that so much that a smile appeared on his lips, his cold suddenly forgotten.

His flirting mode activated, and he answered playfully, "Steamy Cafe Room," an intentionally ambiguous response, his phoenix eyes twinkling in anticipation of Mister Investigator's reaction. Sure enough, the alpha on the other line repeated his question with a much darker tone this time.

"Where is that?" The tone was very deep, almost overbearing.

Arren laughed at the alpha's behavior, pleased with the outcome of his teasing and the attitude of the other.

He then stated the location and coquettishly inquired, "Would you be coming over?"

A curse was heard in the other line, which made Arren laugh even harder. His lips widened with pride, knowing that even the straight-faced and calm alpha wasn't immune to his charms. Was it possible that Mister Royal Investigator was also interested in him?

Arren gripped the phone while biting his lower lip, which was now smiling even wider. Mister Investigator was definitely his type! Perhaps Arren was about to bid farewell to his single status?

The other line went silent, Arren was about to say something else when the alpha's deep voice spoke first.

"Wait for me," and the call ended.

The tone was almost threatening, and for a moment, Arren had the urge to run away, and his instincts were telling him that if he didn't escape before the alpha came, he might not have any chance in the future.

Arren parted his lips as he shrugged and ignored it. His thoughts were always vivid. He set his phone down and leaned back in his seat, embracing himself and rubbing his arms for warmth. The chill crept into his bones as his lips dried.

Hopefully, the alpha will come soon. Arren also wanted to order the coffee now, but his condition prevented him from doing so. His feet and soles were now stiff, and his lips clattered, making him unable to speak normally. Arren simply wanted to lie down and hug himself to conserve energy until the alpha arrived.

Arren used a lot of brain cells today, and now his adrenaline died down. The exhaustion came all at once. Sometimes he really hated his impulsive personality, as when he always had a plan, he didn't even have any follow-up plans to support it or countermeasures if something went wrong halfway.

He was the type of person who would only think about it when he was already in the situation. And he was now exactly in that situation. Since that incident in the bar, everything went fucking wrong. His good fortune had probably run out.

He never regretted his decision, though. The house suffocated him, and his father rarely returned home these days, so they didn't get a chance to talk. Arren really just wanted to beat that fucking Ashton for once, why couldn't anyone understand him?
