While these thoughts were heavily influenced by his rut, to a certain extent, they also came from his deepest thoughts. Not to say that he truly wanted to imprison or control Arren, as he was not obeying him; it was more like he wanted to let the omega know that he was also in the relationship and that if something happened to him, someone would be worried for him and be devastated. 

Being carefree was good, and even if he wanted to be reckless, that was fine as well. However, there was a limit to it, and he might be in danger in return. Spade wanted the omega to know of his concerns and reservations. 

What happened really made him scared, when he thought something had already happened to Arren while in the sea. He still wasn't sleeping since yesterday. He was sure that Arren was already on the island, but he was still looking at the sea as though he wanted to dive there and search for Arren just to be sure.
