An Oddity

Shuyun lightly jumped at the touch of the girls soft hands.

'Her hand... is so soft...'

Shuyun for a second actually questioned the authenticity of the 'human' before him. While his vision may have told him that it was most definitely a human before him, the softness of the girls hand was unlike anything he had felt before. It was truly his eyes playing tricks on him.

He slowly rubbed his head with his eyes closed as he spoke his first words to the girl who he had assumed to be the nurse.

"Would you happen to know if my parents have been contacted yet?"

But even after a moment, he didn't get a response. Confused, he turned to face the 'nurse' who was kneeling beside the bed next to him. Only then did he realize that the bright light had originally seen was not the lights of the Emergency Room, but only the rays of sun that broke through the ceiling of the room. Now getting a better look at the girl, not only was she not in uniform, but had an unusual but casual outfit on. As the sun had taken his blind on the surroundings, he realized that this was no hospital room. Instead, a sort of wood cabin followed the concept of a house within the rooms walls.

"What the hell?"

Shuyun spoke on impulse without thinking, like a normal reaction.

The 'nurse' seemed to react to his wording as she followed his eyes, she too looked at the wooden walls. Finding nothing out of the usual about them, she looked back at the boy.

She stared with him for a moment, seemingly trying to find the point of his exclamation, before speaking to him once more.

"What's hell?"

Shuyun didn't respond for a while, appearing to stare into empty space, deeply pondering.

The girl only calmly watched the oddity of the boy, whose every action only served to intrigue her.

It was only after a few minutes had pasted by that the boy suddenly spoke out to her again.

"May I touch your ears?"

The girl's eyes slightly fluttered as his odd request, but remembering the feeling she had felt before, she wasn't so objected to it. Still, her lack of immediate response made Shuyun feel she was hesitating. But just as he was about to speak in persuasion, her soft hands reached out once more and touched his, bring them up next to her ear.

"You may"

Shuyun was quite taken aback at her response. This girl was an oddity in his eyes. It was hard to put a finger on it, but he felt her to be too clueless. Her actions, and the strange curiosity that was always present deep within her eyes just puzzled him. As in his years of living, interacting with all kinds of people, he had never met someone as transparent as her. Still, it seemed that all of these question were about to be answered.

As he once again touched her ears, he rubbed them slightly, pulling on them with the lightest force while repeating this cycle for a moment. While Shuyun was investigating, the girls cheeks once again gained their pink hue. She looked like she had wanted to say something, but didn't.

Shuyun, on the other hand, was quite shocked at the sudden revelation.

'Those ears... are real. I can even feel the heat within them that all living beings naturally possess'

He then turned his attention to the girl before him, now focusing on her face. While completely ignoring the pink colored cheeks, he inwardly gasped.

'I couldn't have actually been reincarnated... right?'
