Prologue

Don't you ever look back at life and just think, 'Was there anything that I could have done that would have made my life turn out differently?' I mean, look at me, I was considered to be one of the richest and most successful bachelors of this era, but I also probably had some of the most regrets in life.

I built myself a glorious legacy with my company, but I realized that it wasn't the legacy that I wanted. I wanted someone to come home to, a family that I can proudly say was mine. One that I could cherish, love, and protect. However that could never come to pass. The moment that I started to make a name for myself, I had all the wrong people throwing themselves at me.

I eventually got tired of trying to figure out which ones were real, and which were the ones that just wanted me for my money. Eventually I stopped looking. I just started focusing on my company. Because of this, I had the second most powerful tech company in the world.

That didn't stop the regrets from coming back on my last night though. That night I had to work late in the office to finish filling out some paperwork for some new piece of tech that we were working on. My driver had just messaged me letting me know that he was here, so I finished what I was doing and went ahead and locked up. On my way out, I passed by a janitor. I nodded my head at him in good night and walked out the door.

"How are you doing tonight sir," the driver asked as they pulled out from the building.

"It was good Jeremy, how's your wife doing?" I replied.

"Oh, she's doing wonderful, thank you for asking sir," he said looking in the rearview mirror. Telling him that I'm happy for him, I pull out some notes that I brought from the office. As I was looking through them I didn't notice anything was amiss until I heard someone lay on the horn on the passenger side of the car. I Jerked my head up To see what was happening but it was to late, a pair of headlights was coming straight at us and was going to slam right into my door. Right before it did though the only thing that went through my head was 'Was there anything I could have done to make my life turn out differently?'
