Chapter 13: The Promise

“And I was hoping we wouldn’t need to have this discussion. But here we are,” Mykel said while he passed Atlas into the apartment.

Desmond only gave Atlas an apologetic look and moved into the apartment after Mykel. It sounded like Mykel had been avoiding coming here for some time. Which made sense considering Atlas had said that he hadn’t been able to get all the answers he needed from the souls in The Echo. Still, Desmond couldn’t help but feel bad for Atlas having to meet Mykel this way. The man wasn’t exactly the friendliest he had ever encountered.

Once all three of them were inside the apartment, Desmond took his usual spot on Atlas’ sofa. Mykel sat next to him, to his surprise, and left Atlas to move to a small chair just on Desmond’s left. There was a strained silence between the three of them once they were all seated. A silence that was only making Desmond increasingly uncomfortable the longer it lasted.

“Okay, so how can I help you two?” Atlas asked.
