The Early Bird - Walter

People say the early bird gets the worm but in my palace, that was not the case. Twelve long years of waking up early and not a good thing comes out of it.

I woke as the sun streamed through the windows of my room, announcing the arrival of the day. I lugged my exhausted body out of bed and proceeded to wash my face in the marble basin, after which I rang a small bell on his bedside table. Four, young maids stepped into the room and began to prep me for the long day ahead.

The warm sun embraced me like a soft, comforting blanket after dancing in the rain. The warm rays of the sun tingled the senses on my arms. I walked through the palace gardens feeling a wave of peace befall me. At least until the sight of the first grounds men's. The men working the grounds raised their heads all in unison, bringing an eerie, disturbing vibe which felt as if it was being directed at me. They stared at me with deep blue eyes of sorrow and if I was any smarter, I would say empathy. The gazes of the men followed me until I finally reached a set of double doors. They opened with grown. 'Tired too aye.' my voice rang in my head. I entered the dining room and sat down across from my older sister, who looked regal as always. I started at my plate, stirring the sausages around and mushing up the perfectly cooked potato. I could feel something was wrong in the air, I just couldn't place what.

Not a moment later an advisor stood up, "I have news, terrible, terrible news."
