They had already examined the ruins for several hours, and certain relatively hidden sectors showed signs of recent and repeated activities. Jack had photographed and recorded all his discoveries and they were already packing all his equipment before starting the long descent before night fell so as to avoid going down in the dark of the mountain, with the risks of accidents that this entailed.
At one point Suzuki tripped over a stone as he tried to carry his backpack, with the result that he rolled on the ground with a curse. Something whistled past the spot where his chest had been moments before and landed on the ground.
"What the hell!" Exclaimed Jack, realizing what had happened.
“It's a dart!” Lakshmi's tone clearly showed her surprise and fear.
"We are under attack." Suzuki's conclusion was inevitable. Another pair of darts fell close to him without impacting due to his constant movement.
