Dusken was surprised, shocked even. But after some time, he slowly began to understand.
'So instead of exp, I have abysmal points?' this thought rooted itself in Dusken's mind.
Normally, when a person slays a creature, they get exposed to that were used to level up, but it seems that he is different.
His talent was an abyssal star, and it seemed that due to his talent, his way of growing stronger was different.
After some pondering, his eyes gleamed. He had slain a level-one creature in the desert, but because his talent was locked, he couldn't level up.
But the god of darkness had unlocked his talent and this made him instantly break through.
Due to this, the Calamity Codex had said that his feat was outstanding and so the god of darkness had rewarded him with an Innate ability…
Before he lost himself in more thoughts, the faint, but powerful voice of the god of darkness sounded in his spirit once again.
'If you want my legacy, you all must pass my trial. In the trial, you must find this, whoever finds it will get my legacy,'
After the words of the god statue of darkness, a translucent projection appeared in his mind.
It was the projection of an ancient stone tablet; it was flat and made in a rough, rectangular way.
Some symbols were graven on it, making it extremely decorated and enchantingly beautiful.
The symbols glowed darkly, like the splash of absolute darkness, coupled with the fact that the tablet exuded dark smoke, made it look like a demonic property.
Dusken steeled his mind, he must find this tablet in the trial if he wanted to pass, but what if he failed? What would happen? These questions not only laughed at Dusken but also the other children.
As if to answer their question, the god of darkness spoke in their mind once again with an aloof tone.
'If you pass, you get my legacy, and if you fail… you shall perish. However, before I send you to the trial, tell me what weapon you want, just say it in your mind,'
Without hesitation, Dusken said inwardly.
'Longsword'
Instantly, the Calamity Codex's voice sounded from his soul.
[You have received a material card: Level One Longsword]
'D-damn', Dusken shivered instantly; he had gotten a sword, a material card could be materials like weapons or others and he now had one, which meant that he could summon it… this was the power of a god.
'You all are armed and ready now, whoever finds that tablet in the trial shall receive my legacy, and those who fail are doomed to die in the test, this is your choice, you chose me, thus, you chose death'
The extremely cold voice resounded bone-chillingly in Dusken's mind, making him tremble.
'Curse it, this is power, authority and the Zenith of strength… I want it
Resolve burned within Dusken as this thought manifested in his mind; he wanted such power, to dictate the life and death of others, to rule over others and to stand at the peak of the world.
Another wave of words from the god of darkness crashed in Dusken's mind, after hearing the information transmitted, he almost stumbled.
'By the way, since I am the god you chose, it's proper for you to know my name. Solace comes at the beginning of death, and death begins at the end of life. Nothing is everlasting, all living or permanent, but everything shall perish and die; Longevity is a tool of gods but a weakness of them, for they are not immortals. But I am eternal, I am all living, and grand, for I am... Nothing.'
As this long speech ended, Dusken's eyes widened; it all made sense now; Nothing was the name of the god of eternal darkness, shadows and death.
When this thought appeared in his mind, he, alongside the other children, suddenly passed out as they were transported to the trial.

A cool, but chilly wind was all that Dusken felt as he began to come to his senses.
'Where am I?' he contemplated inwardly.
'It seems I am in the trial, great. But I still haven't checked out my Innate ability, my talent ability and my spell card, alongside my material card. Curse it, so many things to do.'
Dusken blinked his eyes as he thought this, beneath his feet was soft, wet soil, which was almost sinking to the feet.
His vision became clearer and he began to notice his surroundings. It seemed that he was in some kind of forest with large trees everywhere.
The air was cool but chilling to the skin; the scent of nature permeated the atmosphere.
"Wuwuwuwu," the sound of crying sounded making Dusken turn his head.
'What the' he almost jumped up in fright at what he saw. Around him were children that ranged from the age grade of 10 to 16.
They were all wearing tattered clothes and were tied to a large tree, even Dusken was tied too. His feet were bare with no shoes on them.
Everything seemed off; his body wasn't like that of a ten-year-old, he seemed to have grown and was probably a 15-year-old child in this trial.
The sad thing, though, was that this was not what caught his attention; what did was the fact that a distance away from the children was a large bonfire, and some lifeforms ate and drank while laughing.
Some had the head of a tiger and the body of a human, others had either a crocodile's tale or a snake body with a human's head.
'Beastmen,' this thought sent Dusken's heart pumping wildly in fear.
Beast men were brutal races, who loved playing with and killing young children. They ate them for lunch and normally played a game with the children before eating them.
'Why was I sent here? Sent as a slave of this brutal alien race? Curse it!'
Just as Dusken had this thought, a beast man suddenly gazed at him and dashed forward.
