Chapter 12

As soon as The Shadow Monarch said that last word, her body became cracked and fire erupted from those cracks. The giant pillar of fire that erupted from her burnt each floor above her and it left a giant burning circle.

She was like a burning time bomb. Her dry skin was falling off like a snake shedding skin, and blood came out from those pieces of skin.

As the skin fell out and blood poured out it would instantly be neutralized by the fire but each time she would scream in pain.

"I guess this is the problem with children of Monarchs. They aren't perfect."

The Shadow Monarch looked a little sad as he said that while he looked at Ace's body.

[Black Shadow sub-skill Shadow Bomb has been activated]

[Black Shadow sub-skill Shadow Walk has been activated]

[Black Shadow sub-skill Shadow Punch has been activated]

[Black Shadow sub-skill Shadow Armour has been activated]

In a second, Maldiv exploded in shadow and The Shadow Monarch appeared in front of her, and he punched her.

She flew back into another building and broke through it.

[Black Shadow sub-skill Shadow Bridge has been activated]

She was getting up from the rubble that covered her but The Shadow Monarch wouldn't give her time to recover.

A bridge from that building connected to the other one and there was another office covered in the rubble from her blasting through it.

[Black Shadow sub-skill Shadow Lance has been activated]

The multiple lances thrust at Maldiv but she fended it off with lances of fire as well.

They collided and the fire turned black and they canceled each other out.

"Got a few skills of your own I see."

"Skills strong enough to take you on!"

"HAHAHAHAHAH. We'll see."

Maldiv threw a ball of fire at The Shadow Monarch.

[Black Shadow sub-skill Shadow Armour has been activated]

The ball of fire was too fast for The Shadow Monarch to dodge so he equipped armor and he looked like a medieval knight with shadows flowing in and out of it.

The fireball exploded in front of him and as the fire dissipated came flying through Maldiv with a chest plate of fire and the fire exploding all over her hand as she punched The Shadow Monarch in the face.

Just like Maldiv, he flew into the building behind him and was covered with rubble.

The Shadow Monarch and Maldiv's attacks were almost exactly the same. How did she do it? is what The Shadow Monarch thought.

"How the fu."

He was cut off as fire, that looked like lances flew towards him.

He was able to dodge as it was a dark place, not much of a challenge for him.

The Shadow Monarch was calm as it was an area that was dark and even the strongest of the normal people would have trouble ripping off the blinds.

Maldiv walked into the room and she called out.

"Where are you Shadow Monarch? You can't escape me with the darkness. I already know the contents of your power."

The Shadow Monarch froze for a second and in that Maldiv smiled and shot a fireball at him.

Suddenly there was a voice coming from all around the room.

"So the old witch really is still alive? Right? Right?"

Maldiv sat down on the floor bored and yawning.

"Yes, she's alive. The old witch is still living sadly."

"No wonder you know the contents of my power."

The Shadow Monarch was moving around at such high speeds in the shadows that what was being heard were echoes even though Maldiv wasn't fazed.

She walked towards one of the blinds and she put her hands on it.

Giant claws of fire rose up from her fingertips and the blind was ripped off. It was sent flying.

The light was shone and The Shadow Monarch was exposed for a second but he quickly disappeared.

He knew what was happening and he knew that if he lost all the darkness in this room, he would have a hard time recovering.

He charged in attacking as much as he could with all the moves that he could, and sometimes it worked, and sometimes it didn't.

[Black Shadow sub-skill Shadow Hammer has been activated]

[Black Shadow has created sub-skill: Shadow Sniper]

Black Shadow sub-skill Shadow Shadow Sniper has been activated]

[Ice Shards has been activated]

[Ice Shards has been activated]

[Ice Shards has been activated]

[Ice Shards has been activated]

All the Ice Shards that were used combined into one and were loaded into the giant sniper sitting on his shoulder.

As it fired, it has the force of a rocket launcher and the damage it did was enormous.

It hit Maldiv in the shoulder and all the other places it hit had exploded with ice.

The whole corner was covered in little shards of ice while she was injured, but being injured didn't stop her.

Her body went on fire and melted the ice instantly and neutralized the blood gushing out of her left shoulder.

Now any ice that was used wouldn't work against Maldiv.

She walked towards The Shadow Monarch slowly with fire exploding from her body every now and then.

"That really hurt you know."

"I know."

It was a small exchange but The Shadow Monarch knew what was about to happen.

She was getting really serious, even The Shadow Monarch wouldn't be able to stop her once she became serious, at least the current Shadow Monarch.

As she held her hand out fire was gathering in the palm of her hand, she was going to blast The Shadow Monarch and everything along with him.

That's what was going to happen when suddenly water shaped like a dragon attacked her, it wasn't weak like any normal skill, it was strong enough to damage a Monarch.

The Shadow Monarch turned and looked at where it came from and at the door stood Ezekiel.

Looks like his two elements were light and water, a combination that even The Shadow Monarch wouldn't expect.

"What are you doing here?! You will die!"

"It's the other way around, if I didn't come someone else is going to die."

As much as The Shadow Monarch wanted to deny it, he couldn't. He knew it was true, he would die if Ezekiel didn't stop her at that moment.

"It's been a while. Cousin."

"Yes, it has, how has the old witch been?"

"She's still rambling on to your parents about your betrayal. How I never betrayed her and everything like that."

"She's still the same. When we escape and you go back to see her, tell her I said hi."

"You can do it yourself."

Maldiv turned towards Ezekiel and fire exerted from the tip of her fingers and it shot straight at Ezekiel, but he dodged it with ease as he only tilted his head to the right and it flew straight past him.

"Shadow Monarch, I need you to continue attacking with that ice skill you used. I'll support you best I can."

He nodded and he kept using the same skills and attacking her, but it wasn't doing that much damage.

She would just melt the ice over and over again until that is Ezekiel started to move.

That same skill he used with the water dragon came out except it was 3 times stronger with a hint of light in there.

It was too fast for Maldiv to dodge, so it hit her but as it hit her, there was a massive flash of light.

So bright that it would blind almost anyone, luckily The Shadow Monarch saw the light and closed his eyes, although someone else didn't.

Maldiv shrieked in pain as she held the blood-covered eyes.

The Shadow Monarch charged in with an Ice Shard when he saw her in this state and he stabbed her in the abdomen.

She was wet and the fire couldn't be generated so she fell to the floor blinded with ice sticking out of her abdomen.

"Quickly let's go before she catches us."

"Why? We must finish her here."

"We can't do that, right outside is the real Fire Monarch."

The Shadow Monarch was devastated as he realized the reality that he wouldn't even be able to hold afoot to the real Fire Monarch. He struggled against the daughter.

They ran down the stairs, past all of Ezekiel's dead men and they made it to the bottom where Ezekiel took him to a room and in that room was a shaft leading outside the building.

"I designed this just in case something like this happened, and would you look at that, it did."

They made it to another building safely and The Shadow Monarch looked outside to see a giant ship on the same floor they were on.

Walking out of the building and onto the ship was Maldiv and another woman that wore the same clothes and resembled Maldiv a lot, she somehow looked younger and more beautiful though.

It was the Fire Monarch.
