Helpless rejection

Aurora stopped walking, her hazel eyes widening in shock that shot through her heart and soul. "What did you say?"

"Aurora..."

"Aurora? Aurora?!?!?" She returned her gaze to him, only to find him standing directly in front of her.

Gritting her teeths, she stood on her tiptoes, grasping his collars, her eyes dilating. "You cannot do this to me."

Sebastian's silver eyes burned. His hands grasping her wrists. "I do not have enough energy for another screaming match."

"A screaming match?" Aurora couldn't believe him. "You think this is a screaming match?"

Sebastian let out a heavy sigh, exposing how tired he was. "I signed the papers already. Just sign it, that is all."

Aurora snorted. "I just have to sign it?" Shrugging her head, she released his collars. "May I have a look at the papers?"

Sebastian looked down at her, his eyes clashing fiercely against those hypnotic ocean eyes of hers. He wanted to see them become lifeless. He wanted her to charge at him. Hit him...

Perhaps... that would make him change his mind. Perhaps if she did that, she would remind him that she was completely insane and that divorcing her would be like severing the lease of a wild beast.

Without saying anything, he returned to his desk, grabbed the papers off the table, and threw them at her.

Aurora caught the papers with a fierce glare. She looked, and when she saw that he had signed the documents, it broke her heart.

"You bastard!" She tore the papers apart with a fierce scream.

Sebastian sighed heavily, pinching the skin between his brows. "You are wasting your strength. There are plenty more copies."

Aurora dashed over to him and pointed up at his face. "Read my lips, Sebastian Devereaux. I, Aurora Devereaux, I am not ending our marriage."

Sebastian's face went blank. His eyes were flickering, revealing every emotion he was attempting to repress. All that his beloved wife could read like an open book.

Aurora puffed up her chest at his lack of response. Her throat was starting to hurt. Even though their arguments were becoming more frequent, she never imagined that he would suddenly take out divorce papers.

She turned to face the door, tucked her purse neatly over her shoulder, and pushed her tousled hair all the way back.

But as soon as she gripped the door handle, she watched his veiny tattooed hand close around her arm. And before she could say anything, her sinfully beautiful husband was pinning her heavily to the wall.

He looked down at her, some strands of his long, raven black hair dancing across his forehead. His sharp features twisted into a deep scowl, and his burning silver eyes flashing without any approaching serenity.

Aurora held her breath, deeply intimidated by his gaze. "What do you intend to do? Force me to sign divorce papers?"

Glancing up into his eyes, she tilted her head. "Tell me, Sebastian Devereaux. Will you make me sign the divorce papers against my will? Are you doing this because of that Omega?"

Aurora clicked her tongue. His silence was so thick. His hold on her wrist tightening. She scowled intensely, utterly disgusted, and grabbed his unfastened necktie, pulling it forcefully. "You are wasting my time. Answer the damned question!"

"Enough." Sebastian hissed, deepening his expression at her words and actions.

Taking a deep breath, he closed his eyes. "Aurora." His voice struck her, thick and deep, making her hold her breath more than she had ever done before!

He would never call her by her name. No matter how much they screamed at each other.

Until today....

She had chosen to ignore him the first time, but this time was so terrifying!

Suddenly, he let go of her wrist.

"Answer the question, BASTARD!" She cried out and punched him in the stomach and chest with both fists, not caring about how painful it hurt.

She did not stop! She did not want to stop! She kept punching him! She persisted with all of her strength! Not realizing that her eyes had shifted into their glowing blue beast form.

On and on, and on...

"ENOUGH!" Sebastian grabbed her neck, pinning her more firmly against the wall. His eyes were in their deep crimson beast form.

Aurora was beyond stunned. Her entire existence stopped at that point. She felt... helplessly afraid!

Sebastian... He never raised his voice, no matter how hard they fought. And his beast eyes were filled with rage....

"Do not... Do not look at me like that." She stuttered, closing her eyes.

Unbeknownst to her, a flicker of plea filled his eyes before being replaced by anger.

He parted his lips, breathing heavily. The urge to call out her name....

She opened her eyes to their normal state. "I will not sign the papers." She said, her voice, her demeanor, her entire being calm... helpless. "Please, do not do this to me."

Sebastian clamped his lips. "Very well then." And he stepped back, releasing her neck.

"Really?" Aurora asked, excitement brimming in her gaze and voice. She knew it! He would never leave her! He would never divorce her! He would never...!

"I, Sebastian Devereaux..."

As he started to speak, realization gave her a hard slap. "No, Sebastian." Her eyes welled up with tears.

Sebastian remained unfazed. "Alpha of the Rouvray pack... "
