Hugh was resolute on making Leticia stay because he was more afraid to get her in danger with the unknown. It's much easier for him to be the only one to face the danger.
"But Hugh, I think I really need to go with you." Then, Leticia whispered, "...besides, we don't know if the Outers learned about this. We need to keep in mind that what they're finding is the summoned one. It's much more reliable and safe to be with you than staying here."
They heard Direck cough and Leticia looked at him while she gestured and said, "No, offense."
"None taken."
Leticia then continued, "We can always come back here and do the rest of what we need to learn if we find nothing related to what we came for."
