Chapter 21

Dennis was confused, so he read all he could find about Italian families on the new laptop that had made its way into his room. Luca said he owned an extra, but Dennis could tell it was new because it had all the latest programs, including a particularly expensive art program that Dennis always wanted to buy but didn’t because he never had the cash. He knew little about Italians, or for that matter any other nationality, because he grew up in Irish Belmar and his family was pretty insular. When he went to college he was with Matty and felt no need to widen his social circle. Matty would go out to party, but since Dennis had grown up in a bar, he wasn’t much of a drinker. He couldn’t see the point.

His internet perusals gave him little insight into Italians, their families or his enigmatic friend. Luca didn’t fit any of the stereotypes on television or in the movies either.
