The Alpha Snake Beast was confused, but did not pursue the matter.
The orb lit up a warning signal, indicating its now time for the next challenger to step forward.
The Alpha Snake Beast could only swallow his objection and swore he will eliminate the kid next time.
Cayden stood silently in the eleventh square. He can feel the stares of other challengers but he did not care. He just glimpsed at Pete and nodded. Reassuring his best friend that he was fine.
Of course, Pete did not believe him. Cayden's face was pale and he look horrible with his broken bones and injured arm.
But Cayden is actually not lying. In fact, he just received a piece of great news from the Drifter's Clock. It just set a task for him to gain points.

[Reward: The remaining debt you have for points will be paid.]
So Cayden did not hesitate to use the last bit of his strength to strike back. The moment the man step forward, he immediately swung his dagger and sliced the snakes, at the same time, he took the risk by receiving the heavy blow from that hard slap.
Although he was in incredible pain, he was satisfied.
Didn't he enrage the Alpha Beast Snake more?

A slight beep entered Cayden's ears.

A system interface suddenly opened in front of Cayden.
It was the said shop. There is the list of weapons he recognized, and some of them have effects that are extremely useful in this game. As he scroll down, he saw a scimitar with a white silk band attached to it.
The finger that scrolled in the screen suddenly trembled.
This is Xyris's weapon.
She called it iris because she found this lying dormant in a place full of iris flowers.
In a place full of armors, swords, bows, and guns as weapons, only Xyris' silk band differs from the rest.
Cayden swallowed the bitterness in his heart. It took every ounce of his strength to divert his attention from the scimitar and choose the few choices of 'free skills' he could have.

The Drifter's Clock who just willingly void the points to provide the skills for free: "...."
Cayden must have sense the Drifter's Clock did not say anything much. He just clicked the first choice and felt the skill integrated to his nerves.
At once, the broken bones that were causing him extreme pain were immediately soothe. The swelling arm that was poisoned is also not that painful anymore.

Cayden did not care. In fact, he already thinks the skill is good enough. Since it will not hinder him fight with all he has.

He tested it by swinging his right arm up and down and he found it was as light as a silk. He tried to puncture it through the dagger and the tip of the dagger bounce. The more force he put to the dagger, the more the shield utilize his strength to bounce the dagger back.
Cayden also noticed Pete has three items as a reward.
The first one is a gun. The second is the ammunition storage belt. The third is the six inch knife. Pete is athletic enough to wield these weapons.
He could also use the gun to protect himself.
Especially if he was caught in a battle mode between challengers.
In the fourth round, out of sixteen, only one young man was killed.
The others viewed Cayden's punishment as a streak of luck. Cayden is only courageous enough to not be afraid of the man and strike when the opportunity calls it and manage to win through sheer luck.
Of course, the dagger also played a huge role for his success.
That is why when another young man triggered another second level battle mode, everyone is not too surprised to see another similar looking man with many small snakes as its head.
Like Cayden, it also forced the young man to choose which body part he wanted to keep. Left leg or right leg. But the young man is too frightened to answer. Thirty seconds swiftly passed by and the young man choked on his own words. His body trembling all over.
When the countdown for two minutes started, the young man was not ready to face the enemy. The attack also happened in a blink of an eye. The young man has the same dagger as what Cayden has but he did not use it.

But the snakes in the man's head did not stop there. For the rest of the five minutes, it tortured the young man. Using the snakes, it bit every part of the young man's body. At first, it was parts of his skin completely chopped off, then the meaty flesh.
The young man struggled with all his might. His dagger stabbed and stabbed but he could not hit the man's skin. Heck, it could not even penetrate his clothes.
