Bloodline Wizard

Darkness….

Everywhere David looked, all he saw was darkness. However, surprisingly enough, he wasn't scared. On the contrary, he felt warm and at home. All of a sudden, he felt the urge to get out. Something inside his heart told him that it was time.

So he stretched out his limbs and pushed out, but found that he was actually confined inside something. He put great strength into his limbs and pushed out as hard as he could.

CRACK!

A ray of light seeped in through the crack, causing him to squint ever so slightly. He pushed again and cracks began forming all around him until he was finally able to come out of whatever it was that was confining him.

When he looked at it, he was slightly taken aback. 'An egg?' he thought in puzzlement. And when he looked at his body, what he saw was a black-scaled reptile with a pair of hind legs and a tail. Strangely enough, he didn't think it was weird; he only felt that it was normal.

His first guess was that he was a lizard, but he soon scrapped that thought. He was simply too big for a lizard. Suddenly, he felt two appendages on his back. When he craned his head around to look at them, he saw two small black wings connected to his forelimbs.

But before he could admire it, his stomach growled. Instinctively, he began eating the pieces of eggshell around him. However, that didn't seem to satiate him. Thus, he escaped his comfort zone and went out on his first hunt.

The environment he was in was a relatively dark, mountainous jungle. But for some reason, he seemed to like the darkness quite a lot. Currently, he was but a small creature and he had to constantly hide and sneak around to find prey.

As he gradually grew, he became cold, ruthless, and majestic. Initially having to sneak and avoid his prey, he became a stone-cold predator at the top of the food chain. Every creature he set his eyes on would become his food.

No matter how powerful and ferocious his enemies were, in front of him they could only accept their deaths. After conquering the land, he set his eyes on a higher mountain, a higher realm.

Thus, he spread his black wings and took flight. He flew for an unknown amount of time until he finally reached a realm that was full of creatures like him. There, he felt at home and his heart burned with a sense of yearning. He felt like a parched traveler that had finally found an oasis in the desert.

He continued wandering the new land. The further he flew, the more powerful examples of his species he found. Some of them were so gigantic and powerful that only a single look from them caused his heart to palpitate. There were many four-legged, winged creatures that emanated an aura so imposing he had the urge to bow his head in front of them.

However, he didn't stop and continued moving forward. Something was calling out to him from the depths of these lands. The creatures around him became stronger and stronger, but he never stopped. And soon, unbeknownst to him, he had flown high up into the cosmos.

There, he saw hundreds of thousands of his brethren, all reverently bowing in a particular direction. David looked in that direction with a hint of curiosity and anticipation. However, all he saw was darkness.

The next moment, in the depths of the void, a pair of yellow eyes with black vertical slits opened! The size of one eye was even bigger than the sun! Following that, eight more pairs of eyes opened. David had never felt so insignificant in his life.

Soon, he was able to see the body that belonged to the nine pairs of eyes. It was that of a being similar to him, but a thousand times bigger, perhaps even more. It was a creature with nine heads and a pair of wings that seemed to cover the entire cosmos.

That ancient, titanic creature naturally emanated such an aura of nobility and godliness that it made him want to kneel down and worship it for the rest of his life.

The next moment, from between the eyes of the centermost head, a humanoid figure emerged. She had black hair, and her eyes were similar to that of the creature she had come out of.

Her face had an alluring charm and her movements were exceptionally beautiful and mysterious. Her torso was covered in purplish-black scales, revealing only flawless white legs and hands. Her natural beauty was enough to cause a man to forever be subservient to her whims.

She looked at David, and in a strange language, said, "I'll be waiting…."

Her voice echoed inside his mind, and strangely enough, he was able to understand her alien language. In response, he opened his mouth and let out a primal, bestial cry that sent violent energy waves in all directions.

ROOOAAARRR!!!

The mysterious lady then waved her hand and David was engulfed in darkness.

David's eyes snapped open and his gaze landed on the familiar ceiling of his apartment in Brooklyn. His eyes were no longer the color they used to be, but were now blood red and had black vertical slits for pupils.

Soon, the red receded, replaced by a pair of black irises darker than the abyss. However, his eyes were full of confusion. He massaged his temples and mumbled in a daze, "Who am I? Was that… a dream?"

He'd had a strange dream where he seemed to be a winged, reptilian creature. In that dream, he felt like he had lived for over a thousand years and grown from a weakling to a true powerhouse full of grandeur.

Over the course of that time, he had learned many things, including how to live like a true predator. But now that he returned to his senses, he felt extremely disoriented. The dream had felt so real that now he didn't know what was what.

All of a sudden, memories began flooding his brain and he was able to recall his identity, the system's timer, the betrayal, his fight against the Buccantis, and finally his death. His breathing turned heavy as he said in disbelief, "I died!"

A torrent of emotions surged in his heart and for a moment, he didn't know how to react. He was overwhelmed by these emotions. All of a sudden, he heard a familiar sound echo inside his mind, one that he felt like he hadn't heard in over a millennium.

DING!

The next moment, the system's gray panel appeared in his vision.
