Something Doesn't Feel Right

It was lunchtime everyone moved around to go to their usual groups to eat and gossip. Everyone was practically talking about Hayden. Hayden stayed in his seat listening to everyone's gossip, by the look on his face he was very amused. He took out his lunch and turned around to face Lu. Hayden was ready to eat with Lu since he really wanted to be friends with him and also because he was guessing that by Lu's personality he didn't have any friends. It was not for the reason of others not wanting to, or that he couldn't make any but, for the reason that he must really intimidate others. When Hayden turned around to face Lu, he was still too busy looking out the window.

Hayden knew that if he spoke to Lu he wouldn't notice him again so instead of waiting for him to notice him this time he reached over then lightly tapped Lu's shoulder and asked, "are you not going to eat, did you bring any food?" Lu looked up at Hayden but didn't say anything. Hayden already got used to Lu and knew he didn't hear a thing so he repeated himself and Lu shook his head indicating that he didn't. Hayden felt bad and didn't want to eat in front of Lu if he wasn't going to. He was wondering why Lu didn't have any food. Does he not have enough money for food? Was he just late and didn't have time to make lunch? Or is he just not hungry?

He no longer thought about it, no matter what it was he didn't care he was going to force him to eat, he was ready for Lu to reject his offer but he wasn't going to take no for an answer. Everyone in class wondered why Lu didn't bring lunch as well but the difference was that they thought Lu just wasn't hungry or was in a diet but that didn't make sense since he was already fit. The real reason was that when Lu is at home his mom only gives him the leftovers the only time she gives him a full meal is when Jason is around but she adds extra salt to his to make his salty. Sometimes when he got kicked out he didn't get to eat anything. The only way Lu got to eat was because Jason gives him money once in a while to spend but instead of spending it on things he wants he saves it to eat breakfast, and sometimes if he was lucky enough and had enough money he would go eat ramen noodles at a restaurant near the high school. The lady Zoey, who is in charge of that restaurant had seen Lu go there often and recently stopped charging him so he is a little more assured of having food now.

{ Zoey two weeks ago} "Can I have the day off, I have a date with my boyfriend,  today's his birthday please?" the girl begged and made a puppy face. Zoey looked at her and said, " what am I paying you for? you're supposed to be my employee and do what I want not the other way around." Taylor looked down and no longer said anything, she was walking back to the kitchen while dragging the broom on the floor with her head still looking down showing her disappointment. Before Taylor went in the kitchen to cry Zoey said," hey the exit is the other way, do you think I would let you make the ramen so you can ruin it with the taste of your salty tears?" Taylor quickly looked back, ran to Zoey, and hugged her. "Thank you so much" she was so happy it was clear that she was wagging her tell. "Okay, you can stop hugging me, go get ready your going to be late, you don't want to keep your boyfriend waiting do you?" Taylor said "no" and quickly headed to the door.  "Next time let me know ahead of time." Zoey got an apron and was ready to take orders. A customer entered so she went to take his order.

She had recognized that boy's face even though his appearance had already changed. She knew she had seen him there many times before but most of the time she was only there to check how the restaurant was doing. He was always so serious, alone, and looked around the age of seventeen. She took his order and asked for his name. He replied "Lu." She wrote the name on the receipt and left. Zoey looked over at Lu, Lu was just looking out the window blankly. She felt bad for him he always had a serious look on his face along with an ora of loneliness it was as if he had no reason to live or any hope left at all.
