His fingers, firm but teasing, gripped her waist, pulling her against his body. “Do you know what happens to those who defy me, little pet?” His voice was low, dripping with dark amusement. He leaned down, his lips hovering just above hers, close enough for her to feel his breath but not close enough to touch. “They beg.”Elysia’s pulse quickened, her breath catching as her body betrayed the fear melting into something far more dangerous. Her lips parted, but no words came out. "You're mine, Elysia, I will burn the world for you." She heard him say in a low growl, making her legs tremble more.

Like Strangers

Elysia sat alone in her room, the delicate breakfast of freshly baked bread, melted cheese, with roasted chicken and vegetable soup. She had barely touched her food, her mind elsewhere. She let out a quiet sigh and picked up her spoon, forcing herself to take a bite. But something caught her eye, a movement outside the window. She glanced down and saw a familiar figure stepping out of a carriage, it was the King.

Her heart skipped a beat. Without a second thought, Elysia left her breakfast untouched and hurried out of her room, her footsteps echoing down the hallway as she moved quickly toward the stairs. She felt a rush of anxiety, her heart pounding in her chest knowing she had to speak with him, to try to explain her behavior, to make him understand that she was sorry for her actions.
