Elysia's eyes fluttered open, finding herself back in the King's room. Her heart raced as she tried to process the vivid dream. The sunlight filtered through the window, signaling morning.
With a shaky breath, she propped herself up on her elbows, her gaze falling on Azrael. He slept soundly beside her, his hair messy and partially covering his face. One of his arms was draped over her, holding her close even in his sleep.
Lying back on the bed, Elysia turned to face the King, gently pushing his hair aside to get a better look at him. Her fingers brushed his skin, and as if on cue, his eyes fluttered open and locked onto hers. "Did I wake you?" she asked, a blush creeping across her face. It wasn't natural for someone to look this good upon waking.
He smiled, revealing his perfect teeth, and his voice came out deeper, more husky. "I could get used to waking up like this, with you beside me."
