From One Beast to Another

Juno and Estelle were still at each other's throats for a week after the letter I received from that exiled god. The entire thing seemed to of calmed down between them, that or I would find myself out riding my motorbike while they fought on the ethics of just what was acceptable.

I found myself near the old police station I used to work at. I went around my patrol, reminiscing. I don't know why I missed those days, I was so... insignificant.

That thought, however, caught up to me. I WAS that insignificant. I was just another mortal man. Now though... now I was so much more. I found myself an instrumental piece in the game of literal gods and that only now dawned on me.

In a game of chess, I was the queen, near-unstoppable when compared with anything else on the field... so just who was my counterpart on the side of The Elder? Was it the man himself? Or did he have yet more soldiers to fulfil this role?
