The Diamond In The Rough✔

||Book 1 of the Diamond Series|| The world had fallen into chaos a long time ago. Creatures came and enslaved the human race: Vampires, Lycans/Werewolves and Demons. They took and slaughtered thousands of innocent people. Men, Women and Children. After suffering for ten years, another set of beings came. They had enormous wings and a shining silver rings floating above their heads. Rings that could be used as a weapon if necessary. These creatures were called 'Angels'. They were kind and honestly the opposite of every supernatural creature that existed in that era. They built their kingdom protecting as many humans as they could but the dark creatures had other things planed. There was a war that broke out. Every man for themselves or more specifically, every creature for themselves. The war went on for almost 500 years. Then there was a woman. She wasn't an Angel or Vampire or Lycan or Demon. Turns out she was a hybrid of all four. More powerful than anything. No one knows for sure how this hybrid was made and at some point, no one cared. Her name was Elaka. She was seen as a priestess. Elaka was the savior of all humans. She created a boarder and the world was divided in two: The Land of Light; was so peaceful that it had to be shielded from the world. Elaka had put a protective hidden wall around the kingdom so no one would come in unless brought in by the citizens. There were humans that lived there and their lives were a paradise. And total peace. And there was the Dark land. Where every other creature lived. The three major kingdoms tolerated each other for as long as they could. Years passed without war. Until Elaka suddenly vanished. Without her, the world would become chaotic again. The crystal was lost in the forest. So many have searched for it but never succeeded. Even if they ever found it, the legend says it was set in stone. It was glued to a tree and only 'The Diamond in The Rough' could pull it out. That person was never found.

CHAPTER 7:

The annoying sound of the door flying open was enough to give me a migraine.

"WAKE UP! YOU KNOW THE DRILL" Ms. Melody went from room to room yelling for us to get up.

"alright Lyra" Nadia got up quicker than I ever could in months.

Not being a morning person made the whole situation worse.

"we only have an hour to eat and get dressed so get up" she had to practically yank me off my bed and I hit the floor on my bare butt.

We rushed into the bathroom together; each facing a side and going over our morning routines.

She took 10 minutes while I took 20.

After that, she went to choose between the uniforms that were already kept.

There were so many different sizes but I decided to go for the smallest.

It was a maid uniform that were above my knees.

There was also a bodice to adjust how tight we wanted it to be.

For some odd reason, I really liked tight things but not so tight.

Then I took the smallest pair of shoes that fit me like a glove.

Nadia did her hair and mine in a messy bun that was stylish yet messy.

Awesome.

From there, we went to where servants ate and it was really large and spacious.

There were four long tables that had chairs on either side.

"c'mon" Nadia quickly took a seat and I sat next to her while admiring the whole place.

We were served with bread and fish.

It looked and smelt like left overs.

Don't get me wrong, there were edible but why this meal?

"we mostly get meals that'll help with our blood"

Yeah to make us even more tempting for those evil people.

Guards were patrolling, making sure everything was in order.

The slaves were in a hurry to finish their foods.

They were swallowing it like chewing wasn't a thing.

I didn't want to be left behind so I decided to join them.

Within a matter of minutes, me and Nadia were done.

She said something about being personal servants so we had to be done before everyone else.

Hopefully, I'll get used to everything by next week.

That's IF I'm still alive.

We went to the kitchen first that was already busy.

Was there any time that this place wasn't full?

"alright. Let me brief you through everything; we serve them breakfast, lunch and dinner. While they eat, we have to wait so we can clean up. Then we can also clean up their rooms or do something else that they wish from us"

Everything sounds easy.

"are you ready?" she grabbed a tray and handed it to me.

I took in a deep breath, collected the tray and nodded.

This is my new life for probably a month.

Nadia directed me to the king's chambers which as luck would have it, was close to Prince Alex's room.

I knocked three times but there was no respond.

Maybe I should enter?

After all; the rules state I had to stay there.

Reluctantly, I turned the door handle and opened the door.

I could barely see so first things first, I had to open the windows.

Light came into the room and when I got a proper view, I was so amazed that I almost dropped the tray of food.

There was a bed that could fit twenty people in the middle, a desk not too far from where I was standing.

A grand dining table that could host ten people.

There was also another door by the sides so maybe that's the bathroom?

There were also curtains here and there.

Some were open, others were not.

Let's not forget the fire place and some comfy looking chairs.

Everything fit perfectly and there was still enough space for at least 30-50 people to walk about.

Snapping out of my thoughts, I kept his breakfast on the dinning and stood.

Waiting for something to happen.

I heard a little bit of laughter and it seemed to have been coming from the window.

When I went to check, a small smile crept on my face.

They all looked so happy.

Relaxing and cutting the little weeds that grew in the bushes.

There was a little sun and they were all basking in the rays.

"they all look so happy" my voice was small.

While some of us were stuck inside waiting for the day someone will eventually kill us.

This is my new life now so I'd better get used to it.

I've been standing here for about ten minutes and no one's here.

A funny thought popped into my head.

Since the room's empty, I should try dancing.

That's a crazy stupid thing to do but if I don't, boredom will kill me.

So, I began moving with a bit of sanity.

Shake my hips a bit, move my legs and nod my head.

It was a bit sad because there was no music to dance to.

I looked around and saw that I had much to explore.

A little tune popped into my head.

While humming, I opened his closet.

There were so many clothes there.

I had to clean and straighten all these clothes.

It would be less work if I just decided to clean the room.

"I'm so tired" she plopped on her bed and stretched.

The day was dull and uneventful.

His royal highness didn't show up for lunch and I hoped he skipped dinner as well.

I spent most of my time cleaning his gi-mongous room hoping he'd stay wherever he is.

"so, how's Prince Alex?" since I wasn't exactly feeling sleepy, I might as well talk about her 'master'.

"he's alright. He was a bit hard to relate to at first but now, I feel like he's just a sad, misunderstood person" there was a tinge of pity in her voice.

It was odd to think of a vampire as weak or misunderstood especially with everything they put us through.

"at least you've seen your master. The King hasn't showed up yet and I left his dinner on the table in case he comes back" I huffed.

Nadia looked at me with shock and worry.

"Lyra you've got to get those out of there before you get into trouble" it was my first day and I've already started messing up.

"what if he's hungry?" my voice was small.

"Lyra! He's the KING if he's hungry he can do whatever he wants"

Without caring what the time was, I jumped off and ran to the Kings room.

The halls were empty and it was quite scary.

You can hear a pin drop.

I barged in and saw the tray on the table and untouched.

Phew.

Quickly, I made my way to the table and took it.

There was a sudden gush of wind.

But the door was shut and I'm sure I'm alone.

Something in me wanted to ask who was there but that's a risk I don't want to take.

Without thinking twice, I sped out went back to the slave quarters

...

So far so good, I guess.

Nadia is going to be like Lyra's guardian angel.
