The Diamond In The Rough✔

||Book 1 of the Diamond Series|| The world had fallen into chaos a long time ago. Creatures came and enslaved the human race: Vampires, Lycans/Werewolves and Demons. They took and slaughtered thousands of innocent people. Men, Women and Children. After suffering for ten years, another set of beings came. They had enormous wings and a shining silver rings floating above their heads. Rings that could be used as a weapon if necessary. These creatures were called 'Angels'. They were kind and honestly the opposite of every supernatural creature that existed in that era. They built their kingdom protecting as many humans as they could but the dark creatures had other things planed. There was a war that broke out. Every man for themselves or more specifically, every creature for themselves. The war went on for almost 500 years. Then there was a woman. She wasn't an Angel or Vampire or Lycan or Demon. Turns out she was a hybrid of all four. More powerful than anything. No one knows for sure how this hybrid was made and at some point, no one cared. Her name was Elaka. She was seen as a priestess. Elaka was the savior of all humans. She created a boarder and the world was divided in two: The Land of Light; was so peaceful that it had to be shielded from the world. Elaka had put a protective hidden wall around the kingdom so no one would come in unless brought in by the citizens. There were humans that lived there and their lives were a paradise. And total peace. And there was the Dark land. Where every other creature lived. The three major kingdoms tolerated each other for as long as they could. Years passed without war. Until Elaka suddenly vanished. Without her, the world would become chaotic again. The crystal was lost in the forest. So many have searched for it but never succeeded. Even if they ever found it, the legend says it was set in stone. It was glued to a tree and only 'The Diamond in The Rough' could pull it out. That person was never found.

CHAPTER 74:

"are you sure? Last I checked, vampires don't have wings"

"not ALL vampires have wings; only direct descendants of the royal family do" Cyrus smirked.

"I still don't believe you" I folded my arms.

He came close to me and extend his hand.

There was a skeptical look on my face but he urged me to trust him.

I took his hand we walked around the castle in silence.

It was really awkward to just walk without saying a thing.

I was about to speak when he led me to a balcony.

"what are we doing here?" my eyes furrowed in confusion as he let go of my hand and walked towards the edge.

"Cyrus?" I called out as he stood on the railing.

With a smile on his face, he spread his arms and leaned backward, letting himself fall.

I ran to the edge but before I could get there, he was hovering in the air with a beautiful set of wings.

They were like the wings of an angel but they were black as night and they were really beautiful.

"h-how is this-" I was left in awe. Never had I ever imagined that such was possible.

"we don't usually use our wings unless it's life threatening danger. I have learnt how to control them and will use the knowledge I know to teach you" he smiled and reached out for me.

"I don't think I should" I shyly turned down the offer and stayed on the balcony.

Thankfully, he didn't force me; he only landed and let his wings dissolve into his back.

"your shirt" where the wings had come out from tore his shirt, there were two huge gashes on the back.

"don't worry about it. Now do you believe me?" he smirked and I rolled my eyes.

Well I guess we have our work cut out for us…

.......…....

I decided to take flying lessons first.

Cyrus told me that it would be difficult to learn especially in one day so I should try first.

Alya was kind enough to take us to a cliff where they teach children to fly.

There was a child there already.

He had the wings of a dragonfly, though it was small to match her size and light bounced off them, making it glow in the sun.

The boy looked 7 years old.

"don't tell me you brought me here to embarrass myself in front of him" I mumbled and Alya laughed as we stood at the edge of the cliff.

"no, it's just a coincidence. Anyways; let me tell you all I know about flying. There's not much to it except that feeling of freedom. When you're in the air, you let your body surrender to the skies. One of the hardest parts is getting your wings to move; asides that, you'll basically know what to do. The best was to learn flight is though-" she pushed the boy down the cliff and we all heard him scream as he neared the ground.

"trial by fire"

"what if he doesn't get it?" I asked, not willing to witness the death of a child again.

"if he doesn't, I'll catch him but-" she was interrupted when the boy flew above the cliff at an alarming speed.

There was a huge smile on his face as he soared though the sky like a bird set free.

"they always learn this way" she smiled, incredibly proud of herself.

"now your turn" before I could comprehend what she had said, I found myself falling from the cliff.

I could feel my stomach drop and felt weightless yet terrified.

My back began hurting like it usually does but now more than before.

The fear of me dying and the aching pain in my back made me scream louder than I thought possible.

Everything became blurry as tears began to cloud my vision.

As sudden as it had happened, it stopped!

I wasn't falling anymore.

When I opened my eyes, I was met with Cyrus' warm ones.

He had caught me mid-air and was hovering with me in his arms.

"you're alright" he cooed.

I blinked a couple times before leaning on his shoulder any crying my eyes out.

"it's alright, I've got you" he pressed me closer to him and I didn't resist.

If he wasn't here I don't know what I would have happened.

"maybe I should personally teach you in a way that isn't going to danger your life" he tried to lighten the mood and we both flew back to the castle.

......…...

I wasn't in the mood to talk to anyone.

After me and Cyrus got to the castle, he tried to get me to talk about the whole thing.

"n-not thank you. I just want to be alone" I told him; opening a gate to my mothers' garden.

That was the only place where I could feel better.

"remember if you ever feel like talking; we're all here for you" he smiled and I gave him a simple nod before walking through and closing it.

I'm currently sitting close to mother's tree with my chin on my knees and my arms wrapped around my legs.

"I'm the worst Khamatu ever. There is so much for me to learn and I have to prevent the end of the world in six months, plus I can't fly or willingly use my sixth senses! I wish you were here mother"

"but I AM here. I'm still inside you and this is where we have the strongest connection. Though teaching you physically is out of the issue, I can still instruct you on what to do. We'll focus on your sixth senses. Cyrus will help you with flying. Are you ready?"

I took a deep breath and folded my legs with eyes closed and waited for her to speak to me.

"your sixth sense is a defense mechanism and can be triggered with or without your consent. You need to learn how to control it! Concentrate! You've done it before though you were in grave danger the first time but now it should come a bit easy to you"

I let her words sink in and let my breathing become even.

The entire garden was dead silent and the only thing that could be heard was the flow of water and leaves rustling in the wind.

"tune everything out. They are mere distractions" and I did what I was told and made myself deaf to the sounds of nature.

At first I couldn't see anything but then I saw two versions of myself; one with an angelic aura and the other with a demonic one.

"but why can I see myself now instead of you mother?" I asked quietly, still trying to hold my focus.

"when you used your sixth sense for the first time, it is the Khamatu before you that shall appear to aid you during your first try. But as this is your second time, you shall see yourself. Now…focus"

It was strange looking at myself with a ring above my head on one side and having bat wings on the other.

I couldn't begin to fathom how my appearance must have been when I tried escaping that cell that faithful day.

With slow, unsure steps, I approached the version of me with a halo and I was about to touch her when-

"I've been looking everywhere for you" someone called and I jumped, my heart racing.

Darya had opened a small gate that allowed only her upper body though.

"you scared me" after minutes of meditating and almost getting to my destination, there had to be an interruption.

"I'm sorry to interrupt but it's time to learn magic" she grinned.

"can't you give me five more-"

"NOW!" she snapped her fingers and I fell into a gate she had set beneath me into the caves with a hard thud.

"now; let's begin"

My butt was definitely going to be sore from the fall but I will admit…it's good to have everything back to normal.
