The Diamond In The Rough✔

||Book 1 of the Diamond Series|| The world had fallen into chaos a long time ago. Creatures came and enslaved the human race: Vampires, Lycans/Werewolves and Demons. They took and slaughtered thousands of innocent people. Men, Women and Children. After suffering for ten years, another set of beings came. They had enormous wings and a shining silver rings floating above their heads. Rings that could be used as a weapon if necessary. These creatures were called 'Angels'. They were kind and honestly the opposite of every supernatural creature that existed in that era. They built their kingdom protecting as many humans as they could but the dark creatures had other things planed. There was a war that broke out. Every man for themselves or more specifically, every creature for themselves. The war went on for almost 500 years. Then there was a woman. She wasn't an Angel or Vampire or Lycan or Demon. Turns out she was a hybrid of all four. More powerful than anything. No one knows for sure how this hybrid was made and at some point, no one cared. Her name was Elaka. She was seen as a priestess. Elaka was the savior of all humans. She created a boarder and the world was divided in two: The Land of Light; was so peaceful that it had to be shielded from the world. Elaka had put a protective hidden wall around the kingdom so no one would come in unless brought in by the citizens. There were humans that lived there and their lives were a paradise. And total peace. And there was the Dark land. Where every other creature lived. The three major kingdoms tolerated each other for as long as they could. Years passed without war. Until Elaka suddenly vanished. Without her, the world would become chaotic again. The crystal was lost in the forest. So many have searched for it but never succeeded. Even if they ever found it, the legend says it was set in stone. It was glued to a tree and only 'The Diamond in The Rough' could pull it out. That person was never found.

CHAPTER 65:

WARNING: this chapter contains graphic scenes of violence. Kindly skip (but not without voting) if sensitive to such...

Lyra's POV:

I woke up at the sound of my cell door being opened on stubborn hinges.

It was only the old lady and a couple guards that entered.

They brought a table in that had some strange tools and devices on them. Some looked sharper than others by far.

"w-what are you going to do?" I asked nervously.

"well the lady said you need to be in your demonic sixth sense and call forth your wings so I can clip them off and fuse them with her. I don't know how exactly I'll force you into that state but that's the fun part"

She picked up the first instrument which was a knife and walked up to me.

Panic immediately rushed through me and I began to wiggle to break free but it was no use.

She stood beside me and was about to pierce it through my skin when the blade broke off.

Everyone looked stunned.

"that was the first test. Seeing as you still have that crystal on you, you'll be immune to some level of danger. I don't know what had triggered this suddenly but I know how to weaken its power"

With one snap of her fingers, a guard brought her a small bowl with some kind of goo inside.

She rose it high enough so the entire crystal sunk inside due to it hanging loosely on my neck because of my current position.

"w-w-what I-is this?" the smell of the substance was repulsive and I tried my possible best not to gag.

"this has magical properties that was specifically made by the Phantom Ravens to weaken your kind if you go rogue. Though I had to substitute some ingredients; it might not shut it down totally but it should be just enough to weaken it for a while. Now to see if it truly works" she removed the bowl and stood a few inches away from me and watched.

The crystal had bright vibrant colors but they slowly became dull and saturated by the second.

This is bad.

Very bad!

If what was protecting me has become weak then it truly means my fate is sealed.

"it worked! Perfect! Now to begin the real tests" the old lady got another knife from the table and made a huge cut on my upper arm; taking a great deal of skin away as well.

I screamed at the top of my lungs but that didn't seem to daunt her at all.

"you have such beautiful skin" she remarked with a twisted smile on her face.

"it's a shame you won't get to enjoy it for so long" she smiled again before making a smaller cut on my cheeks and I could feel the blood gushing out.

She got a bowl and filled it up with all the blood she could.

"still no wings huh? Well we have a long way to go"…

......…..........

Sam's POV:

I had successfully found the warriors by the mountain and pleaded for their help.

It was really difficult for them to believe me but seeing as I had much information on their city and other things related to them, they believed me.

Riding from that entrance to the castle took a very long time; it almost felt like it took forever.

How was I going to explain this to them?

I've been known for messing things up but this time I REALLY messed up.

I don't know how to start and to bring it up; most importantly…will they ever trust me again?

After trying to prove I'm trustworthy to everyone especially to Jackie.

Everything I had worked for was a waste.

The image of my sister getting murdered before my eyes wasn't ever going to leave my memory.

Avenging her was the number one thing on my list.

I pushed everything aside as the castle came into view and my heart began to beat faster and faster as I rode into my doom.

I got down from my horse and tried to find everyone.

By this time of day, they should be training but after what happened I don't think they will be into it that much.

"Sam?" a voice called out my name and I turned to see Jackie behind me.

She looked tired, worried and most importantly…scared.

But why?

Anything that's strong enough to stress her out like that is enough to kill me over and over.

"Where have you been?" she ran and gave me a hug.

Her actions shocked me at first but I eventually wrapped my arms around her body.

"are you alright? Where's Lyra?" at the mention of her name, all the colors washed away from my face…

King Cyrus' POV:

"check the boarders again; go deeper into werewolf territory" I ordered.

It had been almost three weeks since Lyra had gone missing.

None of us noticed it on time and though she went to bed early.

But no one saw her the next day at breakfast so we searched the entire palace for her.

As it turned out, Sam had gone missing too!

Everyone has been on edge and so worried about the ware bouts of both of them.

Why did this have to happen to her?

After leaving my kingdom and trying to make a fresh start with her, she goes missing!

It was so f*cking annoying…and she was just starting to open up to me!

I feel cursed at times.

The sound of the huge double doors opening pulled me out of my trance and Sam and Jackie walked in.

The King, Queen, Princes, Princesses, Eri and Tamar were glad to see him and asked about how he was.

They were too oblivious to see the look of desolation on his face.

"where is she?" I stated, not giving him a chance to rest.

Everyone looked at me like I was a monster but I couldn't care less.

"where the f*ck is she?" I growled, trying to suppress my anger and irritation the best I could.

Everyone waited in silence as he narrated his tale to us and when he was done, no one uttered a word.

Something in me snapped making me punch him square in the face. The impact made him fall over.

I wanted to rip out his jaw!

"HOW COULD YOU?!" I walked closer to him but was unfortunately restrained by Rayhan and Tamar.

It's good that they did what they did if not I would have killed him.

"he had no choice Cyrus" Imogen and Jackie rushed to his aid.

I could see the look of pity on his face and it riled my anger even more.

"so that's your weapon! All this is happening because she felt sorry for you, they all do! You act like prey but you're a predator and you use pity to lure your victims. That's how you survive. You're a f*cking plague. Even if she wasn't kind hearted, that disgusting look of pity on your face was enough to make her feel guilty! Enough to make any beast feel sorry for you-"

"CYRUS! ENOUGH" The queen spoke.

The tears in his eyes didn't move me at all.

With a final glance, I walked away.

If I stayed there any longer, I would have killed him.

Now I have to track her down again.

Things are getting quite sour.
