The Diamond In The Rough✔

||Book 1 of the Diamond Series|| The world had fallen into chaos a long time ago. Creatures came and enslaved the human race: Vampires, Lycans/Werewolves and Demons. They took and slaughtered thousands of innocent people. Men, Women and Children. After suffering for ten years, another set of beings came. They had enormous wings and a shining silver rings floating above their heads. Rings that could be used as a weapon if necessary. These creatures were called 'Angels'. They were kind and honestly the opposite of every supernatural creature that existed in that era. They built their kingdom protecting as many humans as they could but the dark creatures had other things planed. There was a war that broke out. Every man for themselves or more specifically, every creature for themselves. The war went on for almost 500 years. Then there was a woman. She wasn't an Angel or Vampire or Lycan or Demon. Turns out she was a hybrid of all four. More powerful than anything. No one knows for sure how this hybrid was made and at some point, no one cared. Her name was Elaka. She was seen as a priestess. Elaka was the savior of all humans. She created a boarder and the world was divided in two: The Land of Light; was so peaceful that it had to be shielded from the world. Elaka had put a protective hidden wall around the kingdom so no one would come in unless brought in by the citizens. There were humans that lived there and their lives were a paradise. And total peace. And there was the Dark land. Where every other creature lived. The three major kingdoms tolerated each other for as long as they could. Years passed without war. Until Elaka suddenly vanished. Without her, the world would become chaotic again. The crystal was lost in the forest. So many have searched for it but never succeeded. Even if they ever found it, the legend says it was set in stone. It was glued to a tree and only 'The Diamond in The Rough' could pull it out. That person was never found.

CHAPTER 62:

"It's nice to meet you at last Khamatu" Tamar's parents greeted with a bow and I couldn't help but bow back.

"the honor is mine" I smiled.

This is how it's been all night.

Being introduced to people everywhere going as far as dancing with some of them.

I'm not so much of a great dancer so each and every one I had danced had their toes stepped on.

It was becoming exhausting and I was willing to dance with one more person before excusing myself.

Not to sound mean but I haven't been focusing on what anyone is saying and wished anxiously that I could leave and get fresh air.

"Lyra?" Cyrus approached the five of us.

"King Cyrus" I added his title and curtsied making myself look civilized.

"may I steal you away?" he bowed and brought forth his hand.

If I'm being honest, I didn't want to go but I figured everyone and anyone was better than speaking with snobbish officials.

"yes; excuse me" I took his hand and smiled at Tamar's parents before walking away with Cyrus.

"your welcome" he whispered.

"e-excuse me?"

"I came in just in time to save you from another boring conversation" I looked up to him to see him grinning.

"you did that on purpose?" I furrowed my brows and looked at him with shock.

"yes! Now you owe me" he chuckled lightly.

"though I didn't ask you to save me but...I guess I should thank you and I owe you one" a small huff escaped my lips.

"so what can I do to make it up to you?"

He pondered over my offer for a while before the lights dimmed, indicating another dance.

"how about a dance? You've danced with almost everyone, except me; so...may I?" he offered me his hand.

Well I guess, I DO owe him and took his hand again and walked to the middle of the ballroom.

I was lost in thought and was brought back to reality when I felt his huge hand on my waist.

My hand shakily made its way to one of his shoulders.

"Cyrus...I can't dance; I'll step on your toes" I blush with my head down.

"well you've stepped on my heart and I'm not dead yet so I think I can handle you stepping on my toes"

A small sting of guilt washed through me and I couldn't help but feel bad.

"Cyrus, I-"

"forget about it. Try and feel free and let it go" he smiled at me while I tried to swallow the huge lump in my throat.

The music started and Cyrus led while I followed.

He swayed freely to the rhythm and I was struggling to catch on.

"you're being too stiff. Dancing isn't something you think about. Just forget about everyone and focus solely music" he whispered in my ear and my body instantly became hot.

With one huge sigh, I shut everyone's chatter out and focused my hearing on the music.

My body immediately surrendered and moved to match that of Cyrus rhythm.

"see?...It's not so difficult" my eyes met with Cyrus.

He always had beautiful eyes but right now, beauty was an understatement.

The light reflected in his own and I was almost lost in them.

His emerald eyes were hypnotic it felt like they drew me in.

The music was all I could hear and Cyrus was all I could see and feel.

I wanted the moment to last forever as I subconsciously placed my head on his shoulder when he pulled me closer.

It felt so comfortable.

This was the same body that I was scared to touch a while ago and now I'm welcoming the feel of him.

We danced in each others' arms for a while before the lights came on indicating the dance being over.

Everyone clapped their hands and I even picked up comments going along the lines of 'They make a cute couple' and 'their babies would look cute'.

My face became red and I thanked Cyrus and walked out of the ballroom before he could say anything.

I needed time to clear my head and rethink my feelings for Cyrus.

That's if I feel anything for him at all.

"hey. You look danced out. Wanna stroll around?" Sam stood beside me with a smile on his face.

He WAS right, I'm really tired of the whole social event thing and couldn't wait for tomorrow when my life will go back to me training; sort of.

"yeah, a walk seemed nice" I smiled.

I had noticed Sam had been looking down since when the king told about us the feast.

And I wondered if Jackie had been giving him a hard time but she smiles whenever she she's him even if the smile is small.

"how're you and Jackie doing?" I broke the silence.

"w-we're good. She's starting to loosen up to me. Thanks for asking"

Something about his reaction made me feel off.

Firstly, he looked pale and nervous about something.

I was about asking as we passed the gates when I felt something was off.

The gates were open and there was no one there at all!

Where were the guards?

The entire place was looking abandoned and scanty.

I was about to draw it to Sam's when a whip wrapped itself around his ankles and dragged him into the darkness as he screamed my name for me to come help him.

What was I going to do?

"get some help, you'll need as much you can get" mother advised me.

"there's no time, I have to help him right now" without thinking twice I ran into the darkness and after Sam.

I could hear him screaming and crying, begging me to find him and rescue him and I followed the sound of his voice.

I ran for nearly thirty minutes without the slightest clue of where I'm going to.

After running for another five minutes I stopped when I noticed there was a deadly silence that lingered in the air aside from me breathing and panting.

Now I understood why the outfits of female warriors are short and skimpy.

The silence went on for twenty minutes until someone tried hitting me with a plank and I dodged but tripped over my dress.

"I'm sick of this!" I yelled in frustration and tore my dress in a way that it was up to my knees.

The numbers of my attackers grew and they tried pouncing on me and I was lucky to move past them.

But they showed no sign of stopping and became even more difficult to beat.

Where do they come from and who are they?

My attackers began to circle me and I used magic to fend them off to the best of my ability.

But it wasn't good enough; they kept on coming back.

Before I knew it, there was a shooting pain in my back and the world faded to black...
