The Diamond In The Rough✔

||Book 1 of the Diamond Series|| The world had fallen into chaos a long time ago. Creatures came and enslaved the human race: Vampires, Lycans/Werewolves and Demons. They took and slaughtered thousands of innocent people. Men, Women and Children. After suffering for ten years, another set of beings came. They had enormous wings and a shining silver rings floating above their heads. Rings that could be used as a weapon if necessary. These creatures were called 'Angels'. They were kind and honestly the opposite of every supernatural creature that existed in that era. They built their kingdom protecting as many humans as they could but the dark creatures had other things planed. There was a war that broke out. Every man for themselves or more specifically, every creature for themselves. The war went on for almost 500 years. Then there was a woman. She wasn't an Angel or Vampire or Lycan or Demon. Turns out she was a hybrid of all four. More powerful than anything. No one knows for sure how this hybrid was made and at some point, no one cared. Her name was Elaka. She was seen as a priestess. Elaka was the savior of all humans. She created a boarder and the world was divided in two: The Land of Light; was so peaceful that it had to be shielded from the world. Elaka had put a protective hidden wall around the kingdom so no one would come in unless brought in by the citizens. There were humans that lived there and their lives were a paradise. And total peace. And there was the Dark land. Where every other creature lived. The three major kingdoms tolerated each other for as long as they could. Years passed without war. Until Elaka suddenly vanished. Without her, the world would become chaotic again. The crystal was lost in the forest. So many have searched for it but never succeeded. Even if they ever found it, the legend says it was set in stone. It was glued to a tree and only 'The Diamond in The Rough' could pull it out. That person was never found.

CHAPTER 49:

"that must have been the hardest thing you've done before" The Jackal laughed.

After our 'hunt' we took the meat back and decided to roast it over a fire so it would last us our remaining time here…probably.

"the hardest part was climbing its back while it ran after Sam. Crippling it wasn't too difficult"

This was how our campfires always were: she and Jaja talking like an old married couple while I was totally left out.

Whenever he tried to bring me into the conversation, the Jackal would fall silent and irritation would grow on her face.

"but I guess it was a team effort. Sam pushed you out of harms' way and slit its throat" he smiled at me and I smiled back.

"thank you" I nervously laughed.

The Jackal didn't say anything; she only got up and walked away.

"hey Jaja? Can I ask you something?" I moved closer.

He nodded.

"why is the Jackal like this towards me? She smiles everyone and befriended the girls in little to no time at all but she's hated me since the very day I got here. Why is she like that?"

He took a breath before he started his story.

"well being one of the greatest warriors has toughened her skin a little bit"

"I know she's tough but how tough exactly?"

"her enemies don't underestimate her because she's blind. Her sense of hearing is stronger than all your senses combined. When she hunts down her prey she never shows herself and when she shoots…she NEVER misses! Some people are even scared of her and how good a fighter she is"

Him talking about her like this made her sound like an assassin.

She was in some ways though…

"but how did she become blind and how can she move like that for a blind person?" unless she was born blind but normal blind people can't fight two people at a time or climb trees like a monkey.

"well I don't know her full story but she was cursed by witches out of jealousy because of her unnatural blue eyes. Jackie had the most beautiful eyes anyone had ever seen before the curse. She was alone and left to die until my parents took her in when she was little. My aunt did everything she could to bring back her sight but it didn't work and even if it did, it would ware off after a while so she gave her the next best thing…spacial awareness unlike any other. Her sense of perception and movement were increased with magic. She can feel ants underground and hear birds up in the sky. But because of what happened, she doesn't open up to outsiders easily, especially boys and it takes time. She's still getting used to you and it'll take a while"

It must have been difficult for her at that time considering everything she went through but I needed to hear the full story from her and I had to gain her trust.

Lyra's POV:

"since you've all been getting the hang of magic, today, I'll teach you something very special"

It had better be a good lesson because I had been thinking of how to visit my mother's garden for a while now.

It's been in my head and the fact that I can only access it through dreams is beginning to bug me.

"it's teleportation; vanishing from one point to another. It's very difficult and very dangerous" she warned.

This could be the answer!

This could be what I need!

"it works like you opening a gateway. Imagine your destination in your head before you jump in" Darya put her hands forward and something like a door was at her front.

She walked in and the door vanished behind her.

"where could she be?" Eri asked.

I was about to answer when someone yelled behind me scaring the life out of me and Eri.

It was Darya.

"now that was fun" she laughed.

"now you try. Take 30 steps back and open a gate beside me. But be warned: getting lost in the space that exists between your start and finish is very dangerous. Do it well!"

I took a deep breath before bringing my hand forward and making a door.

The image of Darya and where she was standing was very clear in my head.

This is it!

I have to pass this test or I'm most likely doomed but no pressure (!)

I took a step into the gate and within a second, I was beside Darya.

"not bad; I was expecting you both to get lost in there" she remarked with a sassy tone.

"try moving from place to place and your only limit is your imagination" she smiled and walked.

"well then now that I've taught you this, you can show yourselves out" she opened a gate and pushed us in and we were in the arena.

"she has some serious issues" I rubbed my head.

"yeah but at least we can go anywhere without wasting time. This might be the best thing about magic" Eri laughed nervously.

Sorry for the short chapter…ran out of juice and had to call it quits.
