The Diamond In The Rough✔

||Book 1 of the Diamond Series|| The world had fallen into chaos a long time ago. Creatures came and enslaved the human race: Vampires, Lycans/Werewolves and Demons. They took and slaughtered thousands of innocent people. Men, Women and Children. After suffering for ten years, another set of beings came. They had enormous wings and a shining silver rings floating above their heads. Rings that could be used as a weapon if necessary. These creatures were called 'Angels'. They were kind and honestly the opposite of every supernatural creature that existed in that era. They built their kingdom protecting as many humans as they could but the dark creatures had other things planed. There was a war that broke out. Every man for themselves or more specifically, every creature for themselves. The war went on for almost 500 years. Then there was a woman. She wasn't an Angel or Vampire or Lycan or Demon. Turns out she was a hybrid of all four. More powerful than anything. No one knows for sure how this hybrid was made and at some point, no one cared. Her name was Elaka. She was seen as a priestess. Elaka was the savior of all humans. She created a boarder and the world was divided in two: The Land of Light; was so peaceful that it had to be shielded from the world. Elaka had put a protective hidden wall around the kingdom so no one would come in unless brought in by the citizens. There were humans that lived there and their lives were a paradise. And total peace. And there was the Dark land. Where every other creature lived. The three major kingdoms tolerated each other for as long as they could. Years passed without war. Until Elaka suddenly vanished. Without her, the world would become chaotic again. The crystal was lost in the forest. So many have searched for it but never succeeded. Even if they ever found it, the legend says it was set in stone. It was glued to a tree and only 'The Diamond in The Rough' could pull it out. That person was never found.

CHAPTER 37:

King Cyrus' POV:

I took a short walk around the castle as the color of my room began to irritate me.

This was the first time in a while that I stepped out of my room and took in fresh air.

Most of the servants I had passed looked at me like they had seen a ghost.

Well I couldn't blame them.

I was almost at my room when I suddenly remembered I had relatives who were my brothers.

Since I spoke with Alex more, it would make more sense if I spoke to him first.

With a made up mind, I turned the door handle and opened the door.

Prince Alex's POV:

Her soft moans were like music to my ears.

Nadia's small arms grabbed my shoulders for support while I designed her neck with various love bites.

It was my idea for her to straddle me.

I needed to feel her in every way that I could.

The scent of her arousal gave me enough gusto to keep going.

Whenever I grabbed her butt and squeezed, he would tighten her grip ever so slightly.

She was biting her lip seriously from preventing a moan from escaping her lip.

"I hope I'm not interrupting" someone cleared their throat making both our heads turn.

It was Cyrus.

Nadia's face immediately went red and she stood with her head down in shame.

How did I not hear him enter?

An awkward silence filled the room.

"I'm not going to hold it against you…but could you please excuse me and my brother? We need to talk"

Without sparing me another glance, Nadia walked out the doors.

She's not going to forget this any time soon

"you could have knocked" I stated as he walked to me and sat by my side.

"last I checked, you're young and your ears are still working properly" there wasn't any emotion in his voice.

For Cyrus to come see me then it was really serious; he doesn''t do this out of sudden love for his brother.

I hadn't seen him since the day Nadia was brought back.

His hair was wild and un-kept, same goes for his beard. I had never seen him look so down before.

His eyes even had dark cycles under his eyes and there was no life in them.

My brother looked worse than a peasant and something was seriously wrong.

The silence began eating at both of us up before I spoke.

"listen…about the girl she-"

"don't. If you truly have feeling for her then I won't hold it against you. Just make sure that she's the one and hold on to her"

A part of me felt like he was referring to himself.

"how're you holding up? You've been down lately" it was noticeable to even a blind person.

"I'm fine; just-"

"you miss her don't you?" he was silent for the longest time before letting out a sigh.

"I don't know what's wrong with me. I can't eat or sleep" he looked at his feet.

This is the first time Cyrus is this depressed.

I can't recall properly how he was when our mother died because we were so young.

If you ask me, Ms. Melody is the only mother I've ever known since mine wasn't there at all.

"well maybe you've come to terms that you actually love this human just as I do for Nadia"

"but I have the fear that I will never get her back! What if I never see her again?" his voice was strained.

"don't worry we'll work something out, you look like you haven't slept in days so why don't you start from there?"

"I can't sleep properly; she haunts me. All the times I've misused her and took more than she was willing to give. It's causing me to regret" He buried his face in his hands.

His now long hair covered his face and I could barely see him properly.

How was Cyrus going to come out of this?

"what if we try tracking them? The place where the guards lost the rest of them. I don't think they could have fully defended themselves like that. There's more to this than we know"

"yeah…I'll look into it"

Cyrus was really broken.

Lyra's POV:

"alright is everyone ready?" Imogen asked with such excitement.

We were all ready for the tour and Rayhan decided to tag along.

Why wouldn't he?

We stood at the front entrance to the palace when an entire flock of birds came towards us.

There were maybe eight or so.

I thought they were birds until getting a closer look and finding out there were people.

And Alya was one of them.

They landed a couple feet in front of us and greeted the prince and princess in their language.

Each of them had different sets of wings.

Some had the wings of butterfly's or any other insect, others had the wings of bats and some had wings of a normal bird.

What also caught me off guard were the markings some of them had. I began to wonder who or what made them like this.

"Alya how was scouting? Anything to report?" Rayhan asked.

"well we caught some bandits that were leaving the forest and into the vampire territory"

"I'm sure Jackie and the Hooded Foxes helped in the interception of those criminals" Imogen added.

"no; we did it ourselves and the Jackal wasn't with them today"

"all this so early in the morning?" Eri asked surprised.

"yeah where is the Jackal anyway?" Sam asked.

"I'm right here. I heard you're taking them for a tour and decided to come along" Jackie said from behind me.

Sam looked happy to see her though he tried hiding it but failed woefully.

"so are we ready?" Rayhan asked.

"I have a question…who are you guys? How do you have wings?"

No one said anything for a while.

"we; are The Birds of Prey"

Not a single comment about the name; find out in the next chapter.
