The Diamond In The Rough✔

||Book 1 of the Diamond Series|| The world had fallen into chaos a long time ago. Creatures came and enslaved the human race: Vampires, Lycans/Werewolves and Demons. They took and slaughtered thousands of innocent people. Men, Women and Children. After suffering for ten years, another set of beings came. They had enormous wings and a shining silver rings floating above their heads. Rings that could be used as a weapon if necessary. These creatures were called 'Angels'. They were kind and honestly the opposite of every supernatural creature that existed in that era. They built their kingdom protecting as many humans as they could but the dark creatures had other things planed. There was a war that broke out. Every man for themselves or more specifically, every creature for themselves. The war went on for almost 500 years. Then there was a woman. She wasn't an Angel or Vampire or Lycan or Demon. Turns out she was a hybrid of all four. More powerful than anything. No one knows for sure how this hybrid was made and at some point, no one cared. Her name was Elaka. She was seen as a priestess. Elaka was the savior of all humans. She created a boarder and the world was divided in two: The Land of Light; was so peaceful that it had to be shielded from the world. Elaka had put a protective hidden wall around the kingdom so no one would come in unless brought in by the citizens. There were humans that lived there and their lives were a paradise. And total peace. And there was the Dark land. Where every other creature lived. The three major kingdoms tolerated each other for as long as they could. Years passed without war. Until Elaka suddenly vanished. Without her, the world would become chaotic again. The crystal was lost in the forest. So many have searched for it but never succeeded. Even if they ever found it, the legend says it was set in stone. It was glued to a tree and only 'The Diamond in The Rough' could pull it out. That person was never found.

CHAPTER 10:

"she looks awful" Sam poked my check with the end of his spoon.

"Being the King's personal slave for like a week isn't something anyone would classify as easy" I wanted to bite back but gracefully held my tongue.

"lay off Sam. It's not easy working for...y'know" Nadia came to my rescue.

Almost every night I live in constant fear of him drinking from me.

So far, it's only happened twice but I don't pray for it to happen again.

"sorry. I hope this makes you feel better" he pulled out a white rose from his pockets.

I'm surprised the petals didn't ruffle in there.

"I wanted to give it to you yesterday but'there wasn't time" he rubbed the back of his neck nervously.

"thank you" I said weakly and took it from him with a small smile and gently placed it in my pocket.

"hey when am I going to get a rose?" Nadia huffed.

"ALRIGHT! EVERYONE GET TO WORK!" a guard yelled and we slave got up to continue another incredible tiring day.

These days, I don't even feel like the food enters my stomach but I forcefully eat so I won't die.

"definitely not today" Sam laughed and went to the garden.

I went through the same thing for the past week.

Nadia and I walk to the kitchen together, take breakfast trays, say our goodbyes and face our worst nightmare.

When I'd gotten to the king's room, there wasn't anyone there so I'm guessing he stepped out for a while.

I placed his food on the dining and waited for like ten minutes.

A sigh escaped my lips and my mind drifted back to the rose Sam had given to me.

"It wouldn't hurt to look at the pretty thing before" I said to myself and brought it out of my pockets and admired it.

I could slightly feel all the tension and stress going away.

The fresh feeling of being reborn was onto me.

My fingers gently played with the petals while I swirled around the room.

My skirt would twirl whenever I did.

Unconsciously, I began humming the little tune that me-maw would sing to me when I was littler.

It was almost like she was here with me.

It felt like me-maw was the rose and I pulled it close to my chest like I saw hugging someone special.

Just then there was a knock on the door.

I quickly tucked the rose away and went

"Ms. Melody c-can I help you?" I tried to sound as sweet as I possibly could.

"yes dear. We have some new servants and one of them is missing. I know you're meant to be serving the king but seeing that he's not around, could you come help me?"

"don't you think the king would get angry if I leave?" I don't intend on getting into trouble with anyone talk more of the king.

"I know you mean well but I'm sure the king will understand" it almost sounded like she was begging.

"yeah, sure" not like I could say no.

I quickly followed her into the halls and shut the door behind me.

King Cyrus' POV:

I've been watching little Lyra in my hideout within my room for the past week.

Whenever she thought I wasn't there, she was wrong.

I've been studying her every move so as to know if I'm going to kill her sooner or later.

So far, she hasn't done anything out of the ordinary.

Occasionally, she would dance and tap her feet while cleaning but other than that she was normal.

I can remember how the taste of her blood when I first fed from her.

It was like my taste buds were exploding.

Even if I wanted to kill her, I can't.

I wouldn't want to waste such precious blood.

At this point, I feel like her blood is what keeps me going.

The sweet intoxicating scent is irresistible.

I was pulled out of my thoughts when she walked in this morning with my tray of food.

Her stunning blue eyes were pointed down at her shoes while she 'waited' for me to show up.

It was only a matter of time before she took something out of her pockets.

I was surprised to see a white rose.

Where did she get that and who gave it to her?

I was pulled out my angry thoughts when she and her skirt began to twirl around the room like a princess.

Then she began to hum some kind of melody that almost made my stone heart, beat.

ALMOST.

Watching her for some odd reason made me feel like a normal vampire.

Without carrying the stress of an entire kingdom on my shoulders.

How her chocolate brown hair flew as she spun and how she held the rose close to her chest like it was a child.

Just then there was a knock on the door and I had to swallow the animalistic growl that threatened to escape my throat.

Lyra tucked the rose into her pocket and went to get the door.

When I was Melody, I calmed down ever so slightly.

"Ms. Melody c-can I help you?" she almost sounded like an angel.

"yes dear. We have some new servants and one of them is missing. I know yo're meant to be serving the king but seeing that he's not around, could you come help me?"

"don't you think the king would get angry if I leave?" she's a smart girl.

Probably too smart for her own good.

"I know you mean well but I'm sure the king will understand" Melody could feel the anger radiating off me so she would do anything to be away from here.

"yeah, sure" She quickly followed Melody into the halls and shut the door.

A sigh escaped me as I came out of the shadows and ate moved to the dinning to eat my breakfast.

Lyra's POV:

"I'll go this way and you go there" she pointed in the opposite direction.

I responded with a quick nod and went in search for this missing person.

I couldn't judge whoever it was that couldn't find his or her way through the palace.

I thought of myself as a lucky person when I didn't get lost on my first day.

I didn't even know who I was looking for but I had to obey the instruction given to me.

While walking, I began to take note of the portraits that hung on the wall.

There were many stories that could be seen in them.

The artist must have been a very skilled person because you could almost feel like you were there.

The work was very detailed and looked like it had taken quite a while to complete.

I was brought out of my admiring session when I bumped into someone's back.

"pardon me-" the person spun around and I was shocked to see who was standing in front of me.

"it c-can't be" her voice was small and she tried to blink away her tears as I did the same.

"it's good to see you too Eri" I crushed her into a hug while she cried into my shoulder...
