Down-trodden people: Part 1

Weather-stricken people

When the overcast sky

Gets out of control, in its sheer aggression

It destroys the surface and,

Everything over it,

Sky does not care if some wretched, old farmer

Has tried to plow, or has a plan of the crop in the coming season

Sky just wants to show the wrath on the earth

Maria was watching the rain pouring down crazily. There were cold winds accompanied by ruthless raindrops. Soon it shall start hailing with all the rain and the wind and the situation would be bad for the outlanders, new settlers, or short for the Chika and other nomads like her. The tent house of Chika was floating over the surface of the water. Its anchors were not supporting the whole structure of the tent house. All of them were standing near the tree and their back was supported by the wet stem of the tree. Chika's stepmother was continuously nagging her, telling her that the wrath of the sky was her fault. That they could have avoided the circumstances if only Chika had worked with indigeneity at the castle, they could have avoided this disparity. Chika was pretty silent. She was not defending herself. She was neither smiling vilifying at her nor she was about to say something to chide her because the rain was turning everything equal. All of them were the same and we're in the trouble. Her stepmother did not just display her verbal skills; she was ready to beat her now. But soon Jerua entered the scene. He whistled at the stepmother of Chika and said;

"Calm down lady, beating this poor soul would not return your tent house nor give you anything else to survive."

Her stepmother stopped. She did not cause the trouble. Even though, she was thinking something else. She started crying and maiming. She said;

"Look kid, I am destroyed completely, I do not have anything to live on, I do not have hope and I just do not know how to pull through these crises." Jerua laughed slightly.

"Too much 'I' in your speech, lady! Do not know what you want by this whole melodrama."

"Son, what an old woman, drenched this ruthless rain could have wanted, a place to stand by and dry up herself. Is it too much to ask?" she told Jerua with mock seriousness.
