#Chapter16
The report of a rifle echoes across the vast area that is the Busanga Plains, and under the impact of the bullet, the rhino cow crumples forward, her bulk throwing up dust as she slams into the dirt, her calf running in terror, squealing around his mother's massive body.
Two poachers approach the body of the rhino, ignoring the calf and proceed to hack off the horn of the fallen animal. Without a backward glance at the stricken calf, or the fallen Rhino the two men move off clutching their ill gotten prize, back towards their hidden camp, which is about 30 km from the village.
/"That is a total of five horns in two days, not bad going for a few days work hey./"
/"One more to go and we have made our quota for the week, good thing the bloody rangers are spread so thin, makes our work easier./"
As the two men move back through the bush the spoor left by the killer catches their attention and greed takes hold of both men.
