meeting the Devil

A graveyard in sunshine city, May 2nd, 20xx

"From dust, we were formed, and to dust, we shall all return..." The priest was speaking as the casket was placed at the mouth of the hole ready to be lowered. A few people were attending. They all wore their black outfits and looked sad, but if one looked closer, it could be seen that apart from the two ladies with a young boy who was quietly crying in the corner, the other seemed to be there to fulfil all righteousness.

Some of the men even had impatient in their gaze. No one was paying attention to whatever was being said. "Would we not see dad again?" the young boy turned to the two ladies as the casket was lowered. He was just a child and did not fully understand the concept of death.

He heard his mother was dead while giving birth to him. Since then, he never met his mother and only saw her picture. His father would always say that his mother was above watching over him. Now that his father was dead, he was scared that, just like his mother, he would only have pictures to see in the future.

"We would when we grow older," the elder sister could not break the little boy's heart. The younger sister did not seem to agree. It could be seen that she felt that her sister should have been more honest. No one knew what it felt like to be dead. But she swallowed the words at the tip of her tongue, seeing the warning gaze her sister was sending her. "Dad is with mum now. They would both be watching over us," the younger sister forced a smile.

The whole process passed quickly for the three children who had become orphans. They walked over after everyone else had dropped their flowers. The three children looked at the tombstone, each with different thoughts and worries. The little boy was thinking of meeting his father again so that he could get him his promised bicycle. The second sister was thinking of the mobile phone her father promised her but would never be able to get it again.

As she thought of the fact that no one would pamper her like her father again, tears ran down her eyes. the elder sister felt the massive load of responsibility that had been placed on her. she did not even dare to cry, after all, she would have to console her siblings. "I promise to do my best to keep our family together..." the first daughter was still promising when a commotion broke out of the crowd.

The three turned around in time for them to be pulled apart, and the sisters were quickly thrown into the back of the van. "Whitney, we have been kidnapped," the younger sister stated as she hugged her elder sister in fear.

Whitney was just twenty; she was scared too, but there was no one to cry to, so she hugged her sister and tried to comfort her. "The neighbours would call the police, and we would be recused, right?" the younger sister asked in a small voice.

Whitney nodded, but there was a strange smile on her lips. She and her sister got kidnapped immediately after the funeral service of her late father. It was not the conventional situation where a victim got kidnapped when no one was watching. Everybody from their neighbourhood watched as they got dragged into the van, and the van drove away. No one dared to make a sound; she had seen the neighbours giving space to the men. How can they dare to report the case to the authorities? Everybody knew Kevin Smart was the only one capable of committing a crime in broad daylight.

Even if Whitney knew this already, she did not want to scare her sister; she knew that her sister also had this guess. The two sisters did not know why their late father's boss would adopt them.

Whitney only heard rumours about Kevin Smart, she had never met him before, and many people from their neighbourhood feared her father because of his work relationship with Mr Smart. Some said the man was scary and a perfect description of the devil. Others said that he was mysterious and could kill in seconds without getting caught; he was a known criminal with no evidence to put him behind bars. Whitey created a mental picture of a man who was ugly, he must be in his fifties, after all, she had heard his name for over ten years. when she was younger, she imagined him with visible horns like in the scary movies she has watched. After all, her young mind could not think of any other reason he was scary to many people.

Whitney was not sure how long the ride lasted, but finally, the van was pulled open. The men did not give them the chance to climb down on their own, the two were rudely pulled down and carried like bags of rice on the shoulder, Whitney did not bother to struggle, she knew it would be a waste.

Her sister wanted to struggle, but Whitney stopped her, "Grace," she only needed to call out her name to send the message. Seeing her sister's gaze, Grace took a deep breath. The man was too strong anyway, it was better to stay put and wait for a chance to escape, so she also relaxed.

Although this was a side entrance that could only be used by employees, the Two sisters saw the name of the club and realised that were at Club 24. It was the most popular high-end club in the entire sunshine city.

The club had three branches in Sunshine city alone, and this was the Southside Branch that was closest to the neighbourhood where the two sisters lived.

The two watch helplessly as they are carried into the elevator; the two men thew them on the floor without mercy. "We are going to see the boss soon, if you know what is best for you, be on your best behaviour," the man's voice was stren. The two sisters exchanged a look and held each other's hand. Grace did not even dare to cry out anymore. She knew that she was already in the den of a lion it was best not to annoy this two.

She was not ignorant of the kind of person Kevin Smart was. since they were in club 24, it was clear that Kevin was involved. So she pinned her lips and prayed that they were not going to meet the Devil.

"Are you referring to Mr Smart?" Whitney wanted to ask but seeing the look of the man, she swallowed the words. she knew too well that she could not afford to get beaten up, anyways she would have the answer to her question soon.

Even if she did not know what the man looked like, she felt she would know. Club 24 was owned by Smart cooperation, so she knew Kevin Smart was definitely involved in this situation. Who else would dare use Kevin as a cover to commit a crime? Her father was feared in the neighbourhood because he worked with Kevin, even if he was just a secretary.

*Dig the elevator stopped on the tenth floor, and the door pulled open. "Follow me," one of the men took the lead to step out of the elevator.

The two sisters had the urge to turn and flee, but they knew better than to complicate their problems, so they held their hands and walked outside the door with the man. The second man followed behind. As long as they were obedient, the two men did not make things difficult for them.

Whitney could feel that her sister's hands had become so cold from fear. She squeezes it lightly to comfort her. Grace forced a smile to her face, but it could be seen that she was just acting strong in front of her sister.

The walk did not take so long, and soon they arrived in front of the deck. Whitney read the sign on the wall. "CEO's office," seeing this, she wondered her big their situation was that the devil was taking care of it himself.

Given how big an organisation Kevin was running, Whitney knew that it was impossible for him to handle all the situations himself. So she had secretly prayed that he was not 'the boss' on the lips of her kidnappers. But then again, only Kevin was called the boss in his organisation.

Others would have their name attached, like boss Cain and boss you. "The Warmer girls?" The front desk lady asked. 'It seems she had been expecting them,' Whitney thought as she observed the lady behind the desk. Her gaze was calm; She looked like a pretty flower, her face was innocent, dressed in an official manner; it felt so out of place for her to be there.
