The Desired Effect (A Multiverse Fanfic)

This is a story about a boy picked up by a god as his champion. Traveling through the multiverse the god will seek to ascend once more and reclaim his rightful place, while the boy will rise to prominence as his herald. There will be blood and many fights along the way, but there will also be friendships and romance. Truthfully I'm a bit tired of the current fanfics on Webnovel, so I thought I'd take a try at them myself. The MC will be not op at the beginning and he will have to work hard for things. I will also try to flesh out the relationship and the dynamics between the characters but I'm only a beginner so have mercy on me.

Fighting The Demon

"You're a demon!"

The fake Urokodaki smiled as he saw Fey's shock and a slight bit of fear on his face. For a demon, there is nothing better than the sense of power they feel when they see the expression of fear on everyone's faces. It's even better when they beg for mercy or cry as they rip them out alive.

"And you're dead."

The fake Urokodaki, no the demon, pulled back his hand back and twisted his body to the side. Then in one motion, he violently sprung back his hand as he threw the rocks in Fey's direction.

Fey had seen this all too clearly and his face paled in response. He grabbed his sheath in one hand, and the katana in the other, as he tried to block as many rocks as he could.

Unfortunately for Fey, the rocks flew by too fast and there were simply too many of them. While he blocked two out of six, the others found their mark on his leg, chest, and forehead.

Blood dripped from Fey's forehead and he could feel a searing pain on the areas in which he was hit, but now was not the time to lose focus. Fey ignored the pain and turned to face the demon. Holding the katana with both hands Fey was ready.

'Faster, stronger, and regenerative powers. I can't face him head-on like this, I need to rely on tricks.'

Fey moved his body slightly, making sure not to let the demon leave his vision, and then dug his foot into a nearby pile of gravel and dirt.

"Finally, you have no idea how long I've been waiting to kill you. Because of you, I wasted so much time, but no more. After this, I'm gonna place your head in a bag and send it to your teacher. NOW, JUST DIE!"

The demon lunged forward with his sharp claws.

Once the demon was close enough, Fey kicked the dirt and gravel onto his face.

"Gahhh, you brat!"

Taking this opportunity when he couldn't see, Fey moved to his side and raised his Katana, then with one swift motion, he swung it down with all of his might. Cutting him in half would've been ideal, even if he couldn't kill him, but Fey knew he didn't have that kind of strength, so he went for the next best thing.

*Swish*

"AHHH! MY LEG!"

The demon fell down as his leg was cut off.

'First I'll cut off his mobility, then I need to get the other leg quickly before he regenerates the one I just cut off.'

The pain from losing his leg forced the demon's eyes open. His eyes were red and swollen, with little bits of dirt around them. It looked disgusting and Fey almost wish he still had his mask on, but if he did then his plan might not have worked.

Fey circled around his body, as the demon stared hatefully at him wishing he would come within arm's reach.

Once he saw the opportunity Fey raised his sword up high as he aimed for his other leg, but the demon quickly rolled away, making Fey miss entirely.

'Without a nichirin blade or a breathing style, this is really difficult. If I don't raise my arms and put all my weight behind the strike I don't think I'll be able to cut through his leg in one strike, however, it also makes it really obvious that I'm going to strike.'

Fey took a deep breath as he planned out his next move. Once he was done his eyes focused and his gaze was now sharper than his blade.

'I have an idea, but first."

Fey kicked the demon's leg far away. He didn't want to risk the possibility of the demon grabbing it and reconnecting it somehow. It was his first encounter with one and it's better to be safe.

Then Fey circled the demon once again except this time it would be different. He raised his katana and got the demon to roll once again, and again, and again. The demon's leg was slowly regenerating and his leg was already halfway done healing, so it was only a matter of time before he stood up again and killed Fey.

However, he still continued to raise his katana patiently and swing it down in a great display of strength. He even went as far as crying out whenever he did so.

"HYAH!"

Blinded by rage and indignation the demon couldn't see that while Fey's sword looked threatening, in reality, it couldn't be farther from the truth.

"I'M GONNA RIP YOUR THROAT OUT."

"HYAH!"

"ONCE I'M DONE HERE, I'LL LOOK FOR YOUR FAMILY NEXT."

"HYAH!"

"I'LL MAKE SURE TO KILL YOUR TEACHER TOO."

"HYAH!"

This game of cat and mouse continued on for dozens of seconds. While Fey was not fast enough to cut off the demon's other leg, the demon wasn't mobile enough to harm Fey.

He tried to pelt Fey with more rocks, but he couldn't generate enough momentum to harm him, and it was also very easy to dodge by just going to his back.

The pressure was rising. The demon had already regenerated his ankle and very soon he will be able to stand up, if Fey didn't do anything soon he will die.

Once again, Fey raised his sword, and just when the demon was about to roll away he realized something, there was nowhere to go. There were trees blocking his way forwards and he wouldn't be able to turn around in time.

'Finally!'

Fey had been leading him in circles for this very moment, and although he had failed a couple of times, he only needed to succeed once.

"HYAH!"

With one mighty cry, Fey's blade cut through the air as well as the demon's other leg. Now that the demon couldn't push himself away with his remaining leg, Fey had no more issues cutting down on his almost fully healed leg.

"AAAAAHHHHH!"

Even though he still had a pair of arms, the demon was wracked with pain, and he could hardly concentrate as his body spasmed. Fey took this opportunity to cut off his left arm followed by his right one.

'*Haaah* Finally *Haaah* from now on I *Haah* have to make sure he stays like this until sunrise.'

Taking labored breaths, Fey was really tired from all the chasing and pretending. He tried to best conserve his stamina, but even so, the sword itself was heavy and he still had to swing it down many times under heavy stress. He took a second to catch his breath and examine his surroundings.

*Bleeeerrrrgggghhh*

Fey hunched over and dry heaved as his body tried to vomit out what was leftover from his last meal. He was surrounded by blood and amputated limbs. It was a gory scene that was too much for someone like Fey, who had never been exposed to such a world before.

He could also hear the loud screams coming from the demon and it made Fey feel even worse. He took a deep breath and the smell of iron and blood made almost made him want to vomit again, but he drew his sword and stabbed it clean through the demon's throat.

'Shut up'

Fey could always crush the demon's head completely, as he had heard that this was an effective method for ordinary people to kill them, however, the thought of doing so was too much for him. He would much rather wait until dawn.

However, It seemed even the demon was tired, for his wounds closed far more slowly than they did before.

Even so, this was fated to be a long night for Fey.

Bow down before my efficiency. I made it before midnight :P

I think this was my, and Fey's, first real battle. It was a bit unorthodox but Fey and I will continue to improve as we go along.
