Chapter 7

Vesper got out of the car looking up at the two story log cabin her parents lived in with her younger brother. "C'mon Levi were here sleepy head."

He stirred slowly getting up and out of the car stretching and yawning. "Alright I'll get the bags you should let them know we're here."

Levi rested his hand on his side before quickly regretting that decision and crossed his arms instead.

Vesper went to the stairwell and knocked on the door while Levi gathered there things.

The door creaked open to reveal a lovely lady appearing only in her early forties. "OH! Daniel there here our vespy wespy is home Darling." Vesper hated that Nickname but smiled through it as her father hugged her tight taking the wind out of her.

"Oh Kim Look how tall she is now she used to be so much smaller and she looks so much more mature."

"Aye Ves. I got the bags." Levi said stepping up now unable to see.

"Oh Mother. Father. This is Levi he is....."

"OH MY GOD DAINEL SHE GOT A BOYFRIEND!!! Eiyyyy!!!"

Vespers mother squeeled as she bounced around excitedly.

"Let the poor boy in that's allot to carry and I'm sure he is tired let him in so he can set that down woman." Dainel scolded Kim.

Levi's stepped inside his back now revealed to them as his dark back hair ruffled in the light of the dimmer lamps as he rose up after setting everything down it was silent except for the giggling he recognized as Vesper.

"What's so funny is something in my hair?"

He turned to face them still shirtless do to it being covered in his blood as he held his hair with his right hand looking confused his toned body physically fit for his job revealed to her mom an dad. His badge twinkling and his pistol holster empty.

"Was it a leaf or something?" He asked Leaning down a bit to vespers level.

"Sure silly come sit down mom an dad may need a min. "

"Oh. Alright." He followed her glancing back at her sudden frantic parents.

"What's there proublem?"

She laughed. "Look in a mirror and you can see there proublem."

He sat concerned now. was something wrong with him?

Meanwhile.

"Holy crap how did she land that ?"

"Come on Kim Vesper has her own charm wouldn't you say?"

"Yes but you an I both know not that kinda charm. She has to be doing his schoolwork or something."

"Can we talk about this later? Just be proud of her for even having a boyfriend."

"Yes, yes your right. "

Kim took a deep breath. She walked into the living room with Dainel and smiled.

"I'm gonna go prepare dinner I due hope your hungry I'm making speggetii!" She said as she bounced off.

"Don't mind her we hope you will be staying awhile we have you two a Guest room made to share your both old enough I'm sure to share a room."

Vesper became bright red. She hadn't thought this part through.

"Yeah that's fine Mr. Cartwright ill go pit our things up."

Levi stated blowing vespers mind he was just allowing this she watched him follow her dad upstairs to the room they would be sharing. Left alone in the livingroom now Vesper looked around. Things had changed drastically. Her family moved here a year ago There were now deer skulls around the house and lots of furs of dead animals and guns. They must have taken a liking to hunting I wonder if they have internet.... she thought as her mom brought out a large pot of spegettii and meatballs as well as plates.

"Boys dinners ready!!!" She called up the stairwell.

Dainel was down first.

"Levi said he needed to wash up before he ate he should be down in a few minutes."

Levi scrubbed his hands and face he was filthy he should shower this evening. He unwrapped his side and hissed as he looked at the graze it was stitched okay Vesper had a steady hand. He touched it lightly and hissed at the pain. He shook his head and pulled out a simple black shirt with a white stripe across it tugging it on it rubbed his side but it was better then being topless. He was fortunate that Kim finished cooking before Dainel peppered him with questions. He sighed deeply as the lights seemed to dim and a cold breeze swept the room. He looked around the bedroom it was off but he shook away the feeling he was in someone's home other then his own. He closed the curtains as the sun was dipping below the treeline the treetops seemed to move in the wind.

"There you are I hope you can eat I made allot. " Kim stated proudly as Levi got a plate of food and sat beside Vesper. His right arm went over vespers shoulders as he stabbed into his food with his left hand he began to eat.

His acting skills were nothing short of perfect from all the under cover work he had done lately.

"So Vesper how did you snare this handsome gentleman."

"Oh umm I.. "

"She spilt her coffee on me in school and dropped all her books and somehow in the mess forgot her notebook so I brought it to her class we've been close ever since. "

"Oh Dainel isn't that precious she is still just as clumsy as ever so cute." Kim smiled.

Vesper looked up at Levi who had a mouth full of food and was quiet. She had noticed her younger brother wasn't there. Maybe he left for collage finally.

"Mom did Jasper go to Harvard like he was hoping too?"

"No dear Jasper went to Yale instead he said it suited his degree better we've been trying so hard to get him to visit like you but our letters seem never to get through." That's odd she though why not just call him?

She subconsciously reached for her phone checking the time and noticing she had no reception.

Dainel scowled at the sight of the electronic. Levi noticed this. "Mr. Cartwright what do you do for a living seems your quite the hunter." Levi struck off a conversation noticing vespers off look of concern.

This brought a warm smile to the man's face.

"I've started a hunting business in my lodge here and take folks on professional hunts only downside is I've had to be very careful lately and business isn't great lately there's been a sudden increase in missing persons reports in the Paper."

"I could look into it a bit down at the ranger station if you want I am an officer." He suggested but his offer was quickly waved away.

"Nonscense your on vacation as our guests just make sure our vespy wespy is home before dark and you keep her safe and sound. "

"You have my word Mrs. Cartwright not a hair on her head will be harmed"

When Levi said this Vesper hada warmfeelijg in her chest and leaned against him more as she ate. Levi noticed her leaning in closer.

She must be getting sleepy. He thought as he set his plate down. "We best get off to bed it's already getting so late and I'm sure Vesper is exhausted. " he stated as he set her plate down. She walked over to her mom and dad telling them goodnight as Levi paitently waited by the stairs. When Vesper was ready Levi walked her up to the room they had been offered.
