The higher the level you reach in cultivation the higher the longevity you get from the heavens houtian-120, maintain-200, transcending mortality-500 etc.
This was why most of this empires ancestors were their founding fathers they could establish their empire because they were overwhelming geniuses of their time and because of the support they got from sects in the divine continent it is said there are higher level cultivator there and they are more advanced in arrays and artificial which provide them with terrifying weapons of war which were why the founding emperors who were also disciples of those sects could establish themselves and their kingdoms and that is also why the empires send them most talented youth to their respective guardian sects in order to strengthen their bonds,
As James read he couldn't help but sigh at how fantastical the world is and how much backing is needed in this world he was also glad that he was reborn into nobility otherwise the hardship he will face will be worse.
He then decided to go to the martial arts repository to pick out a martial arts .when he came to the martial arts repository James was astounded by the number of books he saw there because of the level of technology he saw he didn't expect there would be this many books as he started the reading the books he was very surprised at the amount of hardships that is needed in order to practice if he couldn't help but suck in deep breaths some of them even needed someone to seat on boiling lava the only way these martial arts could be practiced is through the use of spiritual herbs which is used to keep the body stable during practice which is why little to no people practice it because it is expensive and painful to boot eventually he chose one of the martial arts called art of refining which uses the medicinal herbs in spiritual herbs to refine the body and a fist arts.
He picked it then left because he didn't need to report it because it wasn't a cultivation art so anybody could learn it most of the guards in the manor were also learning mortal martial arts unless you did a meritious deed for the family or a family member u wouldn't learn any cultivation arts.
He went in to his room and read then read the complete manual in the first stage of the arts of refining the skin, marrow and bones are refined after all this is done the martial artist is comparable to a peak houtian cultivator then he is ready to move on to the second stage but it must be known the higher the quality of the energy used to refine the body the better the result that will come out of it after that will come to the second stage of the art is to refine the heart, brain, liver, kidney and lung which will raise the strength of the practitioner to the maintain realm this was one of the main mortal martial arts human used to practice and humanity has been using it before the all father descended it was said that if someone could refine the brain the person could be comparable to transcending mortality cultivators but alas nobody could refine their brains so most of the practitioner who reaches that level died tragically.

After doing all this he decided to wait for his father to come back to tell him about the martial art he chose and if he could get him an instructor to teach him because practicing martial arts is dangerous and if he could get any help on how to practice he would appreciate it immensely.
