CHAPTER 77: how do I know you’re not a traitor as well

Blood poured forth from the wounds created by holy means. But I did not struggle. The net made of holy thread would only sink deeper into my flesh if I did so.

I narrowed my eyes wile staring furiously at the two leaders. The elf took a step backwards when he noticed my gaze while the woman aimed her sword at me.

I remained motionless. I could probably rip the net open if I made a sudden movement. My scales would tear the fibbers apart if I moved quick enough.

The thing was. If I immediately tried to escape, they would probably think that I would attack them and land the first hit while I was still trying to escape. I had to wait until they weren't focused on me anymore so that I could get at a safe distance before they could land another attack. "What are you doing?" the dwarf yelled at the leaders.

The woman relaxed a little as she answered the dwarf. "shut it you idiot! I just need a word with your demon."

From what I could make out of the situation, someone survived my massacre and spread the tale, or another demon related event had occurred, and they thought I might know more of it. Anyway, the information I did or did not poses would be, in tier eyes, precious enough for me to do anything in my power not to reveal anything.

"You could have just asked him! There was no need to use the fur of the divine beat to make this net. Can't you see that this is hurting him?" the dwarf said while making his way over to me. but he was stopped by one of the humans who had caught me.

The woman knelt down and lifted my head with her thin hands, so she could look into my eyes more clearly. She spoke in her usual cold monotone voice.

"Tell me everything you know fiend!"

I grinned. "Maybe you should not place your hand this close to my teeth. I have never been ordered not to bite it off. But fine I will play along. What do you want to know human?"

She was not happy with my answer, yet she did not move even a centimetre.

"What are the demons planning in the east?"

I laughed. "Its quite interesting how your brain works human! that is of course if it even works at all. How do you think I could have had contact with the demons in the east? You can ask the people I was traveling with to kill Shuten Doji, but back then I was only separated from them for a day at most. How could I possibly have flown all the way to the east and back in those few hours?"

She stood up. Only to kick me in my already bleeding chest.

"Don't play dumb! Tell me what you know."

"You think I like to be here? Why would I hold any information back if the only thing that I would have to gain from it is being kicked?"

Her kick did not hurt. Or it simply couldn't compete with the pain of the threads that were still burning my skin.

She turned to the dwarf.

"Order him to tell us what he knows!"

He frowned at her words. "I already had when I met him. He was sealed away for a very long time and does not know anything.""

The woman wanted slice his head off with a simple movement of her arm. However, the elf grabbed her wrist, preventing her from bestowing any harm upon the dwarf.

"why do you stop me? for all we know he could be a traitor working with that demon to destroy us from the inside out!"

"But what if he isn't?" the elf spoke in a soft and calm voice that was a strong contrast to that of the woman. "We don't know if this demon is bound to him or to something else. For all we know we will set it free to torment us if we kill the person that has at least some influence on it"

I growled at the elf and the woman. I did not like to be called an 'it' and I did not like how the woman threatened the only person who knew my full story.

The woman quickly freed her wrist and yelled. "How do I know you're not a traitor as well?!"

The dwarf took a few steps backwards to where the woman would not be able to kill him with only one movement and remaining humans in the room did the same. All of the were afraid that they would be the next target.

I quickly snapped the strings that had held me down. It hurt a lot to move but I forced myself to jump at the one who appeared like the biggest threat in this room.

The woman was trying to stab the elf in any of his lethal areas while he managed to doge every time. Even when he did get hit, the wounds were not deep and would be able to heal.

She was caught by surprise when I pinned her down to the ground.

She screamed and kicked in pure madness. But I didn't back down and waited patiently until she was finally calm enough to hold a proper conversation.
