CHAPTER 75: djall

I did not tell the dwarf about my massacre. But I did inform him about the situation with the Oni's.

He rubbed his chin while deep in thought.

"I guess we could leave them for now. if your right then they will indeed just fight each other. And when their finished, their numbers should be reduced to such an extend that they will only be a minor inconvenience."

"now that I have told you the story. I would like to ask some questions."

The dwarf raised his eyebrow and leaned back in his chair.

"well then. Ask what you wanted to ask."

I was a bit hesitant to ask that question and was already making up other questions to ask instead. But my curiosity got the better of me.

"What was the world like, a few hundred years back?"

The dwarf laughed. "what gave it away? Did you get a glimpse of my knowledge when I let you enter my mind? Or was it because of how mature I am?"

"I guess that it would be an insult if I told you what actually gave it away. Considering that dwarfs age much slower than humans. And no, you are not mature"

The dwarf looked up from the crystal that he had been playing with up till now.

"Okay you got me."

He sighed and put the crystal away before he rubbed the bridge of his nose.

"For starters. Those monster hunters weren't around back in the day. But there also weren't that many types of monsters either. What I think is funny is how the colours changed. Green eyes were really rare among humans, but now there are a lot who have them. the same goes for those with white or multi-coloured hair. It is like things like that become much more random. As for how the lands were ruled. There were a lot of countries that rose and fell. Most of them could not adapt to the shattered remains of the great war. And some that seemed successful sometimes disappeared over night. Sometimes with all the buildings and furniture intact and other times like no one had ever set foot on that land. After some time, people became scared of living in countries or something like that , and just placed their houses wherever they wanted. not listening to any king that may or may not still profited from his position. But as you noticed, like what happened with magic, those things are slowly rising up again."

I was a little confused by how much the dwarf told me, even though he seemed sad by looking back at those days. I knew that if he didn't want to, he would have not told me anything at all. So, he really did want to tell me this even though it hurt him.

"Are you alright?" the dwarf looked like he was on the verge of crying. So, I wanted to know if I could do anything for him.

"Nah I'm fine. Somethings just keep hurting even after all those years. Nothing to worry about kid."

I sighed. "why! Why do you keep calling me a kid?"

"You should be grateful that I'm only calling you a kid. Some demons can live for millions of years and others can live forever as long as they don't get killed. Compared to them, you are not even an infant."

This did not go in a direction that I liked. But at least it distracted the dwarf.

"What do you mean, not even an infant? Just what kind of demon am I that I would not even be an infant at this age?"

The dwarf stopped for a moment as he was looking for the right category to place me under. After some time, he seemed to have made up his mind.

After he cleared his through, he spoke. "A lot of demons are classified by their behaviour. Like how a succubus seduces men. The physical description of an individual succubus is incredibly different to others of her species. They can vary from having hooves and wings to bird like claws and a tail. But there always are some key elements in their appearance of which you can tell that it is a succubus. They are all attractive and do they possess horns, though they are not always easy to spot. You however were not always a demon, so your behaviour will be a little… off. Though your behaviour shows some mayor resemblances with a chort, you can't possibly be one since those are one of the few demon species that have a verry limited number of variations. They are all hairy and are rather short for demons. They also have hooves."

"Stop telling me what I'm not and say what I am."

"Right, sorry. I got a little caried away."

He shamefully scratched his neck as he realised that he was unnecessary rambling about demons.

"As I said I can't judge from your behaviour what you are so I would just have to go with your appearance and abilities. Therefore, I'm not really sure, but I think you are a djall, or a dreq as some people like to call them. but they're basically demons of fire."
