Chapter 1New Life

"Oliver, Julian, Natasha! Come down, dinner's ready!" shouted a beautiful woman from the dining room. She looked to be around her thirties and had long, dark blue hair that fell down her shoulders and blue eyes. If you looked closely, you could see blue flames dancing within them.

Just moments, later, 2 children came rushing down the stairs. The girl, Natasha, had red hair and red eyes, while the boy, Julian, had, much like his mother, had blue hair and blue eyes. Inside of Natasha's eyes were little sparks of red electricity and inside of Julian's were also blue flames, but a lot weaker.

"Haha, suck it. Come on, pay up," said Natasha, with her tongue sticking out.

"Tsk, damn it," mumbled Julian while handing over a silver coin.

Just then, a boy with, surprisingly, silver hair and eyes, walked down. He was actually James, now known as Oliver. It had been 13 years since his reincarnation, and he was now accustomed to his new life. Oliver's theory about the colour of people's hair and eyes was that Magic Affinity had something to do with it. That didn't stop his family from making jokes about his mother cheating on his father.

"Haha, you lost again, Julian? Loser," Oliver mocked.

They all sat down around the beautifully carved dining table and started eating the meal that Synthia, Oliver, Natasha and Julian's mother, and the servants prepared. About halfway through the meal, a man in his thirties, Charles, walked into the house. He had red hair and eyes, with currents of red electricity in his eyes.

"Hi, sorry I'm late!"

"""Welcome home, dad!"""

"Here, honey, sit down. Let me reheat this"

Synthia then placed her hands over the table, right over Charles' now cold food. Then blue flames appeared on her palms. The flames immediately warmed all the food up.

"Thanks, honey," said Charles.

"Okay, now that your father is here, let's talk about the academy. It's your first day. Are you excited?" asked Synthia.

"I'm really excited! Claire and Veronica are coming with me, and it's always good to have my best friends with me. Also, because dad's Magic was passed down to me, and he's the Red Lightning Sage, I'm sure to be powerful," Natasha was the first to reply.

"Yeah, it's the same with me. I'm pumped. Mom's Magic is so cool, no wonder she's known as the Sorceress Of Cursed Flame. Oliver's the wild card. He doesn't have any close friends, and we don't know what Magical Affinity he'll have," Julian quipped.

"Hey! I have friends," Oliver replied.

"Yeah, like who?" Natasha joined in.

"Now, now, don't be so mean. Anyways, you know what to do during the awakening right?" Synthia scolded.

"""Place your palm on the Awakening Crystal and look into the deepest part of yourselves. Feel the energy inside and draw it out and materialize it. Concentrate on energy outside and pour everything you can muster into the energy,""" they all said in unison.

"See, you've told us so many times, we memorized it," said Julian.

...

Hours later, during the night.

Oliver was sitting on his bed with his eyes shut. Even after his rebirth, he could sense the gravitational forces, but he couldn't control their strengths like he was able to before his "death". It seemed like he would only be able to do so after his awakening.

You could know what Magic Affinity you had before the awakening by looking at your parents, but sometimes, an extremely rare case might occur. People might receive what was known as Ancestral Magic. When an ancestor of your possessed extremely potent magic, you could sometimes receive it. This was what Oliver's family believed was the case with him, but Oliver knew different.

He could never forget the feeling of being thrown at light speeds.

'Damn that God. He could have just lifted me. What an ass.'

He then went back to sleep. Tomorrow would be a very important day.

GlaringError here! As I have already mentioned in my author review I am restating it here since I am getting tons of comments about it, that I am more of a reader myself than a writer, I made this novel in an attempt to capture my fantasy world residing in my mind into words.. Writing is new for me.. The premise of my novel is inspired by many great works that I have loved over the years. And some elements I have in my novel that are slightly similar to them but it's just the skeleton of it, the real meat of the plot is entirely my own cooking. Some of the influence that is more noticeable is from The Runesmith (By Kuropon), The King's Avatar (By Butterfly Blue) and Shadow Slave (By Guiltythree). I have immense respect for these legends and I can only hope to follow in their footsteps. To all those who comment just by judging the name, at least give it a chance before letting your opinions be known. Thank you.
