Uninveted guest
The next morning, the sun was barely peeking over the horizon when I felt Seraphine stir beside me. I groaned, rolling over to pull her back into my arms, but she slipped out of bed with a soft laugh, leaving me with nothing but the cool sheets.
"Come back," I mumbled, my voice still thick with sleep. "Too early for anything."
Seraphine chuckled, bending down to press a kiss to my forehead. "You always say that, but the world doesn't wait for you, love."
I grumbled something unintelligible, rubbing my eyes as I propped myself up on my elbows. The room was bathed in soft morning light, the warmth of the previous night still clinging to the air, but I could already tell that something felt... off.
Seraphine's face was serene, but there was an underlying tension, something I couldn't quite put my finger on.
I stretched, my muscles protesting after last night's chaos. "What's the rush?"
