I couldn't stop thinking about the moment Riley and I had shared on the balcony. The kiss had been electrifying, and just the memory of it made my heart race and a smile spread across my face. But a part of me worried if I had gone too far. Riley was complex and guarded, and I didn't want to push her away.
Still, the feeling of her lips on mine was something I couldn't forget, and a part of me hoped she couldn't either.
As I made my way back to the ballroom, I noticed how the festivities continued without a hitch. The guests were dancing, laughing, and enjoying themselves, but my eyes were searching for only one person.
Riley was nowhere to be seen, and a knot of worry started forming in my stomach. I needed to find her.
"Have you seen Lady Riley?" I asked one of the guests, a young noblewoman dressed in a flowing blue gown.
