Immediately after the shout, an arrow pierced the carriage from the front, sticking through the wall between the King and the butler.
The King stood up and quickly picked up Rosa, who was carrying Anna, and charged out of the carriage, bursting through the door.
Another arrow shot out towards the door just as he exited, only missing due to his speed.
The crowd which had filled the streets earlier were fleeing, screaming for guards, and some sticking around to watch from windows of shops. In the middle of the street stood two masked figures clad in grey cloaks with cloth over their face. They held drawn bows, with swords at their waists. They did not fire again, they were waiting for the Demon King to make his move.
"Who sent you?" The Demon King asked calmly, still holding Rosa protectively.
He received no answer. They stood silently, bows aimed at the King.
"Fine then, It doesn't matter anyways," He scoffed.
By this time the guards who had been following the carriage from a distance had caught up and drew their swords as they stood in front of the King and his daughter.
The Demon King now felt safe to set his daughter down, "Protect her. I'll deal with this," he commanded.
He walked towards the assassins, stepping past the guards. He clenched his hands into fists and they ignited, quickly being wrapped with golden flames. The assassins took a couple of steps back to maintain distance when the King suddenly leapt forward, bounding the distance nearly instantly.
The assassins both rolled in opposite directions as they fired arrows at the King. Unaware of the nature of their equipment, the King decided to dodge. Kicking off the ground and using the momentum from his leap to soar several feet into the air.
He landed, turning as he slid forward. By this time the assassins had already nocked their arrows and were taking aim. As they fired, the King crouched and leapt towards one of the assassins, dodging under the arrow.
The King slammed his fist into the abdomen of the assassin, creating a small explosion of golden fire. The hit sent the assassin flying through the air before hitting the wall of a shop, and crumpling to the ground.
The King turned to the other assassin who had drawn his bow. He once again began slowly walking towards the assassin, causing the assassin to once again back up. However, as the assassin was about to shoot, a massive brown snake struck like lightning from the alley he'd backed up into. It bit the man's shoulder, causing him to drop the bow. Then before the man could draw his sword, it quickly wrapped around the man and squeezed his neck until he fell unconscious.
"Good work Sebas," the King said to the snake, as it glowed brightly before shifting into the brown-haired butler from before. Sebas gave a short nod in response.
The King walked over to the man he'd punched. He leaned towards him and tore off the cloth covering his face, and pulled back his hood.
"Humans…" He hissed in disgust. "Guards! Take these assassins to the prison in the castle to be questioned," the King ordered.
"Yes sir!" The guards protecting Rosa shouted in reply. They jogged over and simply held the assassins down as they waited for the city guards to arrive so they could properly chain them.
Rosa and Anna had been watching the entire fight from behind the guards. Anna felt extremely anxious, but she was also excited by the fight. From the bond she could tell that Rosa felt similarly excited but not anxious at all which had helped to alleviate her discomfort.
As they began to walk towards the King, he looked up at them and smiled, before his face immediately contorted into fear. "Rosa, look out!" he shouted.
Rosa instantly spun around, and jumped backwards. Anna, still in Rosa's arms, saw that there was a third assassin who was swinging a blade at Rosa.
The King wanted to leap in to save his daughter but the assassin was directly in front of her , and he couldn't just barrel through his daughter to stop the assassin. Before he could act however. Rosa smiled coldly, and simply held up Anna and yelled "Go puppy!" as she threw Anna at the assassin.
The assassin was shocked, but still swung his sword towards the shocked little wolf cub.
'What the fuuuck! Anna screamed as she hurtled through the air. She saw the blade coming down towards her and thought she was going to die again after only being alive for a month.'I was wrong! This shitty brat is the wooorrst!'
She closed her eyes, expecting pain and death. But, unexpectedly, she only felt a slight pain similar to stubbing a toe. She opened her eyes and saw that the assassin's sword, instead of cutting her, had completely shattered.
This is the first action scene I've written,
Kinda short since the enemies were weak, and I didn't want to slow the pace of the fight with lots of details.
Thank you very much for the feedback so far, and more is always welcome
