Corruption, evil beasts, famine, war, murder, slavery, gangs, captivity. Everything evil in the world lead back to the devilish smile on this man's face. Although now the body of the demon king inhabited by a whole new being stripped of his well-renowned might and left oblivious to his past, he is no more than a pitifully powerless human, with no one at his side facing the bloodthirsty fury of the world. No one by his side but one single girl Eve that has been by that side for years with no intention to leave it any time soon. The world is thrown into disarray by the sudden absence of its supreme leader, and plunges into chaos as many try to attain his throne whilst others seek revenge for his uncountable unredeemable actions. As Somniya and Eve grapple with the monumental task of holding the fractured world together, they must confront the fallout of the Demon King’s reign and untangle the enigma behind this mysterious curse, whilst also attempting to make right of the demon kings evils across the world, in chase of peace and redemption of his name. All in the chase of peace for both himself and the world. But how far can the world forgive those sins, how far can they quench their hatred.

Ruthless? No Somniya!

Some time passed maybe hours, maybe minutes, maybe seconds of complete floating darkness.

Suddenly Somniya's eyes snapped open revealing an unfamiliar white ceiling. Yet what wasn't unfamiliar, in this dark world he was plunged into?

Still disorientated the question 'Am I dead?' instantly shot into his mind as he took a deep brief gasp of air.

However, the soft texture and warmth of the pure white sheets and blanket was the first thing Somniya could label a positive sensation since he had arrived.

Somniya raised both his hands in front of him, it was pretty far down on his list of concerns earlier, but he hadn't noticed he had been wearing some pretty awesome but extremely expensive-looking armour. Golden shoulder pads and gauntlets.

However, on his chest to his stomach nothing but a plain black long-sleeved sweatshirt, "This is epic, but it feels like it's missing something..."

Where am I anyway? Somniya thought, proceeding to Scan the room from left to right he caught the eye of an incredibly badass breastplate, shining among the extremely dull room.

The floors clad in cool, neutral-coloured tiles, held a disinfected sheen under the fluorescent lights overhead, with two wooden seats beside the bed.

A large singular window, its curtains drawn back, allowing the weak sunset to filter through, casting a subdued glow on the room's plain furnishings sat on the right wall.

Not hesitating for a second Somniya leapt out of bed towards the red breastplate. It had a solid gold chain replacing the collar, leading to a golden dragon insignia beneath it, with another in the centre.

The rest of the armour being a solid bright red complimented both itself and the armour simultaneously.

Unable to hold his curiosity and excitement anymore Somniya threw the armour above himself only to be met with pitch darkness. "What the hell, what's going on?!" he squealed not too long after.

"Help! Help! It's trying to eat me! Who the hell would leave such a mesmerising trap here helppp!" The breastplate caught halfway down unbeknownst to him of course became hooked on his shoulder pads.

Suddenly the door bursts open, the pink-haired girl from earlier dashing through wielding her blade with both hands at the ready. "Somniya are you okay?!"

Her worried face of urgency soon got absorbed with a sudden bafflement as she stood still for a moment watching Somniya's desperate battle with an inanimate object and almost losing to it! The only sound she was able to produce being a shrivelled "Errr..."

"WHAT ARE YOU DOING, I HEAR YOU IT'S GOING TO EAT ME WHOLE SOON HURRY!!"

Considering otherwise for a moment the pinked-haired girl pulls the breastplate from over Somniya's head quite casually.

Panting like he had just run a marathon Somniya collapses to the ground. "Wow finally thank you, you saved my life what's your nam-" However suddenly his words took an abrupt pause as he finally locked eyes with his pink-haired saviour.

"You're- you're the girl from earlier. You tried killing me, and now you saved me what the hell's your problem? You gonna try killing me again next aren't you, at least choose one everything's confusing enough."

Eve put both her hands on her hips, giving an agitated smirk. "No one tried to kill you idiot, and my name's Eve are you being serious?"

Somniya refusing to buy it at all, jumped to his feet, her explanation only causing him to yell louder. "WELL YEAH, EVE! THAT GOLEM THROWING BOULDERS AND TRYNA SQUISH ME LIKE A BUG AND THE SLASH AIMED DIRECTLY AT MY NECK WERE ALL JUST FUN AND GAMES WERE THEY?!?!"

"I thought you were gonna defend my attacks effortlessly, even an ordinary person could dodge or block even slightly not to talk about you. And you did absolutely nothing." Eve said as she folded her arms pondering over her own question.

"I see you're more than stupid now!" Somniya continued stamping his foot forward and shaking his fist in front of Eve. "Yeah maybe a few people have a chance, but who's blocking one of those attacks without surrendering a limb? I like my arms and legs sorry, a psycho like you probs wouldn't understand humans."

Eve jumped back aggressively to ready throw back a comeback, however taking a deep breath she composes herself. "You obviously seem fine physically so what could've happened? Was it amnesia?" Eve sighed closing her eyes for a moment. "Well, you're up now, I'll go get the doctor." She continued as she left the room.

Somniya tuts turning his back to her and folding his arms. "Perfect maybe they could find out what's up with your brain."

"Why you!"

A few minutes later the door creaked open, and Eve re-entered the room, her pink hair slightly dishevelled.

Following closely behind her was a tall humanoid wolf doctor with vibrant yellow fur wearing a long white gown over a blue suit exuding professionalism.

Putting both tips of his index fingers on either side of Somniya's head they start emitting some type of bright blue light.

"Bar thasom." The doctor says whilst gently shutting his eyes, a heavy silence hung in the room until he finally spoke.

"Yeah, I don't sense any of the signs of amnesia. Apart from the fact his hair has grown a lot shorter than it was in the arena, and is now completely black, I don't seem to find any mental or physical changes." His bored voice void of any sort of emotion.

"Oh, I didn't notice it when I came in earlier it was... pretty eventful. It looks a lot like the same hair he had when we were kids.

Before... you know everything happened. Both his horns are missing too."

The doctor reaches for a glass vale with some kind of greenish-yellow liquid. "Yeah, I'll just prescribe this potion, drink it 2 times a day morning and night."

Just as Somniya reaches for the glass, Eve suddenly leaps to her feet and slaps the drink out of the doctor's hand with such force it smashes into uncountable pieces, leaving a green stain on the wall beside them.

It was such a quick reaction it took some time before both the doctor and Somniya turned to look at the result.

"What was that for-"

"Why!? Why was you trying to feed Somniya poison!?" Eve instantaneously responds interrupting Somniya, whilst breathing heavenly, now looming over the doctor with a stern infuriated look in her eyes burning through the doctor's docile gaze.

Somniya turns to the doctor in confusion his face pleading for some sort of explanation or denial yet what it received, "Why wouldn't we."

"You told us Ruthless seemed to of lost everything. He shouldn't even be able to fight or detect poison aren't I right? Finally, an opportunity to erase the demon king, to erase all that is evil from the world has arisen. Why wouldn't I take that opportunity and attain redemption for all the pain and suffering dealt by his hands."

"Ruthless?" Somniya questioned the confusion still lingering on his sinking face only increasing.

"Yes, that's your name-" the doctor attempted to explain.

"It's Somniya! Your name is Somniya!" Eve interrupted once again. "And I refuse to call you by any other name."

"And You, You're a doctor how can you do this to a sick patient no matter who they are or were!" Eve continued her rant spiralling back to the doctor.

Not before taking another *sigh* the doctor packed up his things and turned to leave.

"Think about how many lives could be saved. If we eliminated the demon king right here right now, we never know when a chance like this can arise again. I'll leave now but you better accept any more of his murders after this moment is more blood staining your hands."

"And I hope you know I won't be the only one trying, how long can you protect him..." He concluded before closing the door behind him. Eve bit her lip and clenched her eyes whilst digging her chin into her chest her thoughts half desperately denying the facts, and half understanding it was undoubtedly true.

"Um... Eve." Somniya muttered trying to gain her attention whilst creating the least attention possible.

"I have no idea what's happening or even who I am, but I know I'm not killing anyone don't worry." He reassured.

"And um, I'm sorry for what I said before," Somniya concluded scratching the back of his head in embarrassment.

Eve turned back to Somniya a tear descending from her left eye, and running down her cheek. "I know, I believe you." She said forcing a smile. 'I wish I could believe what I'm saying though.' She thought to herself painfully avoiding eye contact.

"But the Doc was right about one thing, not everyone's gonna believe like me. Let's leave through the back so we don't get noticed, let this die down, people could be waiting out front." She continued quickly wiping the tears from her eyes.

With a disappointed but far more terrified look on his face, Somniya silently solemnly complied, "ok,"

In such a scary unknown world made more than a thousand times scarier Somniya put all his reliance and trust on Eve. Was there any other options was there even anyone else?
