Helplessly

A green light radiates between Eve's hands, and adjusting her hand forwards in the blink of an eye revealing a glowing green magic circle carved into the centre of her right palm, with crossing lines and shapes forming some kind of rune she plummets her hand down to the ground, the already green light emanating from her hand shining brighter as it approached the ground and-

Suddenly, she halts in place the tips of her fingers no more than mere inches from the ground.

'If I cause a ruckus right in the middle of the city there'll be even more eyes, it's inevitable that summoning the golem will wake up the entire city then I'll just be in a lot more trouble than I already am .' She quickly realizes, as the magic circle slowly fades from her palm.

'I still need to think of a way to get out of here which is hard enough without this unconscious idiot.' She continues toiling in contemplation as she gently bites her lips.

However not nearly giving up on retaliation, the moment the magic circle fades not wasting a moment she once again points her green glowing arm towards Rucks "El Toraaa!" four small boulders form from the rocks on the ground and rocket towards him within the next instant.

Effortlessly he smashes each one to pieces moving his fists flying into a blur, as if he was defending from an onslaught of snowballs rather than a barrage of enchanted boulders, Eve's eyes struggled and just barely were able to keep up with his rapid movements.

"You see it's useless, might as well get It over and done with." He smirks as he begins walking menacingly towards Eve cracking his knuckles at each deafening step he takes forward.

Eve untied the ribbon to her sword and held it behind her, although her stern eyes remained cemented on Rucks's every move, threatening to cut him in two the moment he was in range.

Yet this was a threat so trivial that its negligible existence had a measly unchanging effect on his dominantly menacing smile as he approached them without a hint of hesitation or uncertainty.

"I can't lie, it's quite disappointing I have to pummel such a pretty face, I may just go easier on you-"

*Swish! - Clank!*

Eve's sword jittered from left to right, competing with nothing more than Ruck's middle and index finger joined just under his neck defending his head from being chopped off in an instant.

Yet it felt like the sword had clashed with nothing less than another steel sword with an equal level of craftmanship and sharpness.

Still despite attacking with her maximum capacity of strength and weight on the sword not a single strand of skin chipped away from his finger.

"Oh, you're pretty strong I'll give you that. Don't worry I like them feisty." Rucks chuckled with a vile smile establishing the futility of the tragic situation, looming over Eve's distressed face avoiding eye contact at all costs she remained silent.

Yet there were two things she refused to do, despite her mind and body slowly being consumed by hopelessness and fear.

She refused to tremble even for a second, nor surrender the full force of her attack exerted on her pitiful blade. Her mind never considered taking even one step backwards surrendering herself and Somniya to this man.

Suddenly a spear made from the gravel of the ground shot from Rucks's right side, the same as the other attacks he effortlessly destroyed it quickly tilting his body to the left he shot a deadly kick shattering it to pieces as if it was a twig.

Although Eve did wallow in grief, within the slight instant Rucks darted his eye to the right Eve ducked releasing the force on her sword, inevitably throwing Rucks off balance she twirled around to the left

and using the momentum from her spin in one last desperate attempt slashed forwards. "Horah!"

Feeling nothing less than miraculous, a jet of blood spews from the slit in the side of Ruck's hip, rendering his face sunk in disbelief and his mind in complete denial.

"Sorry unfortunately you aren't my type. but don't worry you're pretty strong." Eve jests with a mischievous grin her sword still positioned behind her after the swing.

Ruck glares at Eve, "You---- Bitch!" His demonic eyes piercing her soul radiating a pure consuming spiteful hatred, solely resolvable by quenching its voracious thirst for bloodshed.

The disaster emanating from Rucks left even Eve petrified for a moment, and as if the cut hadn't affected him in the slightest he stood his ground and maintained his footing.

Faster than Eve could comprehend Rucks shot his fist towards Eve, competing with a fist closer to that of a bolt of lightning Eve was rendered helpless only to watch the impending fatality drawing closer and closer, her heart powerlessly and tirelessly beating against her chest in what felt like minutes in the space of a few nanoseconds.

Suddenly "El Humar!" thundered from behind them as a swarm of ice spikes rapidly shot forwards from within the shop one after another from the ground like thicker larger fence spikes, imposing a solid simultaneously transparent and beautiful glimmering white hedge between her and Rucks.

So dumbfounded she was thrown back to the ground it took Eve a good moment for Eve to collect herself, she turned her head towards the general shop she had just recently left.

A man with a long orange beard, in a brown coat and baggy brown pants with a tightly fastened belt around his hip that made the large bulge of his belly just the more plumpos stepped outside of the shop.

Yet despite the short hiccup Rucks hadn't forfeited his desperate prowl, and the sound of pounding from the other side of the ice grows louder and louder until the ice directly in front of Eve shatters into pieces, revealing the although injured with several pierces in his body the just as rage-filled Rucks gnashing his teeth together with such anger as if attempting to crush them into white fragments.

His fist continued to fly towards Eve just as before, "I'll kill you, you damned cocky bitch!" he roars completely ignoring the bleeding tears in through his flesh.

The inevitable situation persists as identical to before, Eve was left helpless.

Suddenly the man from the shop stamped his black boot forward echoing its boom throughout the quiet street and once again bellowed El Humar!"

Suddenly each spike of ice shattered into pieces, surrounding Rucks, Eve and Somniya with countless shards of crystallised ice that immediately pierced Rucks from any and every direction.

Soon the ice spread across the surface of his skin, slowly consuming his body in a frost blanket like a parasite.

And finally, somehow the beast of a man fell to one knee. "You... Bitch....!" He cursed once more before his entire body was consumed by the ice turning him into a just as beautiful glistening statue.

"Quick that won't hold him for long from what I've seen, go!" The shopkeeper commanded warmly yet sternly. Eve looked at him her eyes both emitting tears of gratitude and fear.

Eve proceeded to carry Somniya over her back swirling the sword to the front of her body and grabbing him by both his thighs.

Suddenly more and more people started entering the city streets to investigate the commotion. "Hey! It's Ruthless, everyone the demon king is here!"

within a matter of seconds, a swarm of citizens most still wearing nightgowns and slippers paraded into the city, each and every one of them screaming some kind of slur hatred or motivation, to the point Eve couldn't make out a single word.

And to top it all off it seemed as if the weather had purposefully joined in on the punishment as it began a harsh rain adding to the onslaught of attacks.

"Bar Ballow!" Suddenly an ice wall emerged from the ground around them, a human-sized door on the other end.

"Get out of here! The shopkeeper from earlier commanded Eve, both his hands fixed on the ground.

"What about you-"

"And one more thing, don't hesitate to seek help. No matter what we still see Somniya as family. Tell him that whoever he wakes up as." The shopkeeper interrupted turning his head towards her with a beaming smile in this dark street that she couldn't waste no matter what.

The stream of tears only increasing, Eve nodded as she dashed down the street in the opposite direction, holding Somniya up on her back, and clutching the handle of the boundless bag in between her teeth.

Sometime after the sprint began Eve wiped her tears with her shoulder and stared down the route before her with nothing other than determination.
