What's Wrong, Director Huang?

"Nah, I'll be okay. Somewhat." Lai Mingjie only glanced at Xu Rouguang through their hazy reflection on the elevator protective door. He literally had no energy to spend talking anymore, but he felt bad not answering his new secretary. More and more, this man started to feel a lot familiar... but it was never the General Xu he loathed.

Was he mistaking him as someone else?

However, Lai Mingjie dropped the topic. A normal human was with them, and he couldn't just drop that talk then and there. Moreover, he didn't miss how giddy Liu Qiu had become. He had been seeing her cheer up at every word Xu Rouguang would say, especially if it had anything to do with him. What was this woman thinking? Oh, wait. Did he even have to ask? He ended up glaring at Liu Qiu who ignored the threats and continued giggling.

My, my, did Lai Mingjie think something so big would escape Liu Qiu? He must have forgotten the fact that both Director Cheng and Liu Qiu were intrigued by his interest in Xu Rouguang. Even if Director Cheng knew why he was constantly looking at Xu Rouguang, the old demon knew nothing why Emodao wasn't hostile to the immortal at least. No wonder Liu Qiu found out that Lai Mingjie asked Xu Rouguang to move in.

Then again, before she could talk to tease her boss, the elevator door opened; and there stood three more executives. One was an old man, the other was one quite well-built in his sixties, and the last one was a beefy someone exuding of 'sugar daddy' aura. Two were members of the board that Lai Mingjie needed to cater to from time to time... while the other was another director.

Lai Mingjie's mood plummeted as he had to keep a pleasant face towards these three men. Xu Rouguang gave a polite bow as much as Liu Qiu did. The smile on her face was wiped off, and she only chose to make her sour expression behind a handkerchief she had.

"Having a lunch-out, Director Lai?" A low, husky voice rang out, irking the man he just asked.

"Yes." Lai Mingjie almost bit his own cheek as he tried not to sound annoyed. "I had to welcome my new secretary."

"Oh, a new secretary. I thought he was a client rep."

The man's slightly delighted voice came from behind Xu Rouguang, and the general didn't really pay too much attention to the old man behind him. However, he felt something strange that went to his back and down to the side of his behind. A hand? Xu Rouguang darted a gaze to his side, spotting a hand feeling him up.

Lai Mingjie was aware that the other director was pulling off another stunt. Damn, he should have lied about Xu Rouguang. Then again, they would find out he was lying. The demon king was about to cut in when he noticed Xu Rouguang's arm move.

Xu Rouguang didn't like the touch, and he also didn't like someone else touching him at certain places. The feeling was quick to pulse through his entire body, making it retaliate inside. He grabbed the closest finger he could reach, but it was too discreet that no one would notice if they weren't watching him... and the old director's facial expression.

The nails of his thumb and his pointer dug into the board member's phalange. He didn't utter a word; neither did he make any hint on his face. His expression remained neutral, and only the other man was in pain. No one knew what was on his mind, but the director didn't even try to retract his hand. It was as if it would lose some flesh if pulled away from Xu Rouguang's pinch.

Lai Mingjie then flickered his eyes before speaking, "What's wrong, Director Huang?" He moved his head to see the man. To be honest, he was really pleased to see that man's face contort in pain. Then again, his question had made everyone turn to the man in question.

Director Huang was quick. He used his other hand to press against his chest. "Nothing, nothing. I was getting intermittent chest pains these days. Especially when I'm in enclosed spaces."

"You should get it checked, then. It would be bad for your health." One of the board members shuffled closer and acted like he would drag Director Huang to the front so he could breathe as soon as the elevator opens.

Xu Rouguang flicked the hand off of him, inflicting more pain than necessary. Director Huang only glared at him as he let himself be dragged away. He was really lucky he was wise enough to feign a condition. Or else, he wouldn't know how to not express the pain he just received.

The board member took Director Huang away and tended to him and his chest pain. Lai Mingjie stepped back as the other board member took a hold of his shoulder as if indeed asking him to back away. Soon, he also went behind Xu Rouguang. "Are you alright? Did you feel anything strange?"

Suspicion was fast to rise, but Xu Rouguang only shook his head. "Nothing really. Aside from an itch, I guess."

"An itch? Haha, I see, I see." The man patted the secretary's shoulder as if he was delighted. However, after that, he caught Liu Qiu and Lai Mingjie's unhappy gazes. The look on their faces was enough to make him feel cold and targeted. The member then just shrunk back and continued chuckling awkwardly.

"It's probably from overworking, director. Why don't you stay home and rest for now?" Liu Qiu patted her chest, feigning exhaustion. "We're already in our advanced ages. Even I get chest pain from working; what more of a very hardworking director like you, Director Huang?" She sounded like she was boot-licking, but she just wanted to tell him to keep away from the company employees.

Needless to say, it seemed everyone knew what she really meant.

Director Huang only laughed and nodded at their seemingly good pieces of advice. However, he was still irate from getting hurt by one of his supposed victims. None of them had even dared to speak out about his behavior because of his power. There's no way a new secretary was enough to get him kicked out of JT.

The elevator opened up, and the board member walked the weak Director Huang to get his medical attention. Lai Mingjie and the two secretaries bid goodbye to the other member before heading to where the parking lot was. Upon getting there, Lai Mingjie couldn't help but kick the front-left tire of Liu Qiu's car.

"Argh, I'll tear that guy to pieces." He gritted his teeth as he repeatedly kicked the poor tire. "Tch, Auntie!" He turned to her who was unlocking the driver's door. "Still no point in reporting that debauching goat?"

"Why don't you convince your father, Jie? He's the one protecting that monster." Liu Qiu rolled her eyes and got in. She wasn't mad that Lai Mingjie was kicking her tire; it wasn't like he could do serious damage to it.

"So he does that often?" Xu Rouguang sharpened his gaze, making Lai Mingjie twitch and stare back at him. His eyes were like needles that pricked his boss and made him a little concerned. Of course, it was all because Lai Mingjie witnessed Xu Rouguang butcher a group of thugs. He might get in trouble with human laws if he did something to that goat even if he would be doing the world a favor.

"Yeah, but if you want to get even, do it somewhere he can't hit you back. Forget about it for now. I'm starving." Lai Mingjie only waved his hand and opted to get in the backseat to join Xu Rouguang. When he sat down, he couldn't help but growl at that old lady driving the car. "Auntie, stop."
