Chapter 37: Forge Bonds in the Fire of Hatred

Elanor lunged across the room, slamming her hand against the demoness’s mouth, holding on tight as the muffled screams were still far too loud. She could even hear the barn animals above shift and knicker nervously but thankfully nobody came.

“Shh—you’re going to break our cover.”

“Let them come! They’re children! Their own! They deserve to die!” She snarled, fangs biting through her glove and Elanor winced but still held on, meeting those furious golden eyes.

“If they come, they’re going to scatter. Look around you! You had to search for this catch,” she hissed out, gesturing to the fake wall they came through. “They probably have a dozen of these things hidden around the town and if you slaughter these ones, the others will run, and you might be searching for days and still not find all of them. I don’t know about demons, but humans don’t last that long without water.”
