Once everyone had finished with their breakfast and cleared out the dining table, Ravi slowly wheeled himself in front of the stairs and sat staring at it for a while. Ray and Meghan stood a few feet behind him and exchanged concerned glances with each other.

"What do you suppose is on his mind?" asked Ray in a very low voice.

"No clue." Meghan replied, "But there's definitely some personal story behind it. I can't believe he would be this emotional over going up to the first floor of his own house otherwise."

"Yeah, I hear that." whispered Ray. "But it's not like we can straight up ask him, right? It might come off as insensitive…"

"Oh, definitely." Meghan whispered back. "Let's wait and see if he decides to tell us. I mean, it's not like it any of our business in the—"

"I'm ready." Ravi called out as he glanced over his shoulder. "Let's get this over with."
