"Come on, come on Aisha. Please wake up." Mike said as he was performing mouth to mouth resuscitation.
"You can't die now we only a few pieces to go, please Aisha wake up remember why we are doing this." He said as he was losing hope.
In Aisha's mind:
"I'm so useless, my parents would be so disappointed in me." She said through the tears she shed while kneeling, "I should just save every body the trouble and just die."
Then she suddenly heard Mike's voice:
"Remember why we are doing this."
When she heard those words she remembered her dad and how she longed to see him in person, all she ever saw were his photos. Then she also remembered Mike, she can't leave him after all he had done for her.
"I'm done feeling sorry for myself, It's time to wake up!"
With that she woke up and Mike was so relieved that he hugged her so tight she almost failed to breathe.
"Okay I can see you're happy but you better let go of me before you actually kill me." Aisha said while laughing.
"I'm sorry it's just I thought you were dead."
"I was, I mean I wanted to but i snapped out of it thanks to you."
"Oh it was nothing." Mike said blushing, " And we got the second piece."
Aisha was about to talk when she noticed her fist was clenched, she opened it and found that she was holding the third piece.
"Make that three." She said in disbelief and joy.
"At this rate We'll find the other pieces in no time. It's getting dark soon we better find somewhere to camp."
"What's wrong with here?"
"It's too open, we need to camp somewhere we can hide easily just in case we get attacked."
"You're right, how about in that forest behind you it will take like 20 minutes to walk there."
"Great idea let's go."
Mike helped Aisha up and they headed to the forest. When they reached it, built a makeshift tent out of branches and leaves, set up a fire and sat down. There was an awkward silence for a while until Aisha decided to speak.
"What made you sad in the maze and how were able to overcome it, it's okay if you don't want to answer it."
"I lost my dad and older sister."
"I'm sorry about that, how did they die?"
"I don't know?, When the ball started selecting children my sister was the first one along with another girl. But they never made it to the volcano cause the plane disappeared and no one to this day knows where it went. My mom and I were so devastated. Their disappearance was so hard on my mom that often times she would try and commit suicide."
"Woah." Aisha said in shock.
"Yeah so I always had to make sure she was never by herself although I would also try and kill myself. But thankfully I had Josh who was always there for me and my mom. And we would do crazy fun stuff together to get our minds of it. It's those happy moments that saved my life and I am thankful for them."
"Wow that's amazing."
"What made you sad?"
"Huh.." she laughed awkwardly, "where do I begin?, Should I start with the fact that my planet got destroyed and that I've been without my dad ever since I was born or the fact that I've never had anyone who cared for me or this..."
She began to take off her black jacket and the blue shirt she was wearing leaving only her bra which made Mike blush by the way. And she revealed all the scars that were on her body. After showing Mike she put her shirt and jacket off.
"My mother did that to me, if I failed any one of her challenges she would beat me up often times she would burn me. She told that she's doing it because she loves me and it's for my own good but I never felt it. I tried to think of any happy moment in that maze but I've never had one. I've never even had a friend like Josh who can make me feel better." She began to shed tears.
"Well you're wrong about not having a friend, you have me and I promise you I will do my best to make happy memories with you."
Those words made Aisha smile.
"Thank you Mike, I'll consider this as my first happy moment." She said with a smile.
"You're welcome. Now enough about sad stuff lets talk about something, let me tell you the embarrassing moments of my life."
They talked and they learnt that they had some stuff in common. And for a split second they forgot all the bad stuff they've been through, they even forgot about The Ball. But only for that night.
