springs assault

The winter had come to an end and Phansesis had some well drawn out maps thanks to Assasson his plan was now designed with complete nullification to any counter attack.

the plan was first to push down to the destroyed castle Assasson had defended, unknowingly to anyone else it was for the pure purpose of a honored burial for the fallen.

the assault was to push straight to the capital and fight off anyone who counter them along the path.

"soldiers gear up and pack for our final push! I don't know if this would take a year or if it would take a week! but no matter how long we take the Kiran empire will crumble to Purtain!"

the whole army was expected at these words they knew that Phansesis was serious and that meant their promised Land was just that far away.

it all started calmly Phansesis's army marched down into the ever summer land of Kiran.

though the first night was rough as the Kiran army had placed an ambush.

"Phansesis why do we wait here when enemy has been sighted in the forest nearby."

Qacues was asking for clarification cause no matter how much he hated Phansesis he was under his command for the time being.

"we wait for them to attack us. if they don't do that my sun up roast the forest with fireballs."

"sir we should push towards them and push them out of the forest now that's how all Purtain wars are fought."

Phansesis was irritated by this man but he knew that it didn't change anything so he simply came up with some answers.

"we are using magic in our army. this is the first time Purtain ever had that so we change tactics according to the change of time."

Qacues understood that part and he didn't want to come off stupid so he said his final words.

"well I believe it is foolish but if you say we do."

as he turned to walk out Phansesis stopped him

"wait."

"yes sir?'

" your men are green."

"what's that supposed to mean my men are great warriors."

"your men haven't seen combat like my men. so tonight is your chance I want you to follow captain Assasson with his shock troops to clear out the forest." Phansesis had planned on doing this secretly but the opportunity to train the new comers was better for everyone than a secret assault.

"Yes sir I will assemble them at once! although I don't wish to be lead by a captain is their by any chance a way for you to lead instead?"

Phansesis stood slowly and stretched out before gearing up.

"you are right I haven't led a fight sense winter I will lead instead.'

Qacues was overjoyed to hear this, he wasn't planning to kill him yet but to see him lead would prove valuable for his future death.

the night was quiet and fast as all 1,000 of Qacues's personal guards to occompany him leaving the remaining behind for another time, Phansesis on the other hand was only taking 80 veterans from the first conflicts consisting of 60 swordsmen and 20 fire mages.

they huddled closely to hear the plan, as Assasson instructed.

"Qacues will take his men and form up the front in lines of five. your job is to kill any and all Kiran soldiers that push towards our mages meanwhile my swordsmen will split in half to cover the sides in case they outflank us, obviously the mages will stand in a spread formation and every 15 seconds will shoot fireballs into the forest."

the whole of everyone was having the information relayed to them so that no one would step out of line, Phansesis then threw his 5 cents in for confirmation.

"anyone who pushes faster than a step every drum beat will endanger the rest of us if you don't understand or are afraid of dying today then back out now. we don't know what is in there exactly, now any questions?"

no one replied and everyone got into position, they stood there in the dark for what felt like a solid minute before a drum started beating in intervals of one every second and a barrage of fire rained into the woods.

*boom! boom! boom! boom!*

while the sound of feet and drums kept a steady pace pushing farther into the forest slowly.

*boom! boom! boom! boom!*

up till this point few screams where heard but on the last barrage a great cry was called as hundreds of men rushed out to stop their Invaders.

swords clashed shields and arrows flew from the darkness picking off people so quickly one wouldn't know the man next to them disappeared until another filled his place. the fighting got intense fast and then came the horrific sounds of the fireballs.

*boom! boom! boom! boom!*

and then the drumming stopped for a few seconds as an arrow had hit the drummer in the throat. the whole army stopped wondering what had happened, then from the sides Assasson's men called out with the tune.

"ho! ho! ho! ho!"

just like that the army came to life again and moved deeper into the forest to kill the Kiran. though they found no more resistance as the Kiran soldiers fled to the sound of the march.

soon the men where commanded to claim the dead and go back to their tents while the leaders talked everything over.

Assasson started

"your men are not bad but the pause they did would have killed us if Kiran had kept up the assault."

Qacues was nobility and didn't like that he was being commanded by a peasant so he spoke out bluntly.

"your men could have stopped instead of pushing forward you know. how was everyone supposed to act when the drums stop?"

Phansesis saw that the situation would become worse if he didn't defuse it now so he spoke on only the good news.

"gentleman listen! Qacues this was your first taste with the Kiran fighting styles how do you say they should be treated?"

Qacues was wonder struck at the politeness of Phansesis but amused he was being recognized.

"well I say they fight like they don't care who dies but that shouldn't matter seeing the way we combat them."

Assasson and Phansesis shared looks before Phansesis nodded and Assasson left.

"Qacues the next fight we encounter with the enemy on a large scale I want you to take your men plus half my fire mages and crush the left flank if you are successful in this I will allow you to personally lead with me in the capture of Kiran's capital."
