Railroad for what?

What could they possibly need the Railroad for? They lived all the way in a place where the bombs didn't even hit.

"What do you need us for?" Dez asked as she stood next to Quinn.

"We need help, the people in this state don't know about the world ending. We only have one place that the blast touched and we put it off limits. We thought it might have radiation and we didn't want our people to get sick," Quinn informed. "This place has been running for years. They started building it only a few years after the blast."

"Then just keep it off limits and don't tell them that the world ending," I suggested. "It is kinda rude to keep them in the dark about it but its for their own good."

"That's the thing, the place that has the radiation is kinda spreading it, and our people aren't used to it's effects so they probably will die from radiation poisoning."

"Then tell everyone to evacuate," Dez suggested. "There's gotta be somewhere else you guys can go?"

"We looked into it but no other states are clean and monster free. We are probably just gonna have to stay here."

"No! This is the last place in the Country that has this many people!" Glory shouted.

"Then do you have a plan to get everyone out of here, safely?" Quinn asked. She seemed so mature and fit right in with the adults. I mean, she couldn't be any older then seventeen. Definitely different then the Quinn I meet eight hours ago.

"I think I do, if we expose them to the radiation then maybe they have a chance to survive because they are used to it," Glory continued.

"How will we give them so little radiation without killing them?" Quinn asked taking a seat next to me.

"By putting the smallest bit in the main water supply," Glory went on.

"Great idea Glory, thank you." Quinn said happily. I was unsure if that was the best idea for the people but I didn't want to question it. I felt really out of place here.
