The humiliating defeat of the Slytherin team became a popular topic of discussion among Hogwarts students after meals. The unfortunate substitute goalkeeper, Wiki Avery, became the subject of many jokes. Even though Madam Pomfrey had already repaired his broken teeth, whenever students from other houses saw him, they would recall the phrase circulating in Gryffindor: "He knocked his own teeth out by running into my elbow."
Nobody really cared about the truth behind Albert's words; they simply mocked the little Avery for his own misfortune in knocking out his own teeth.
It was just mockery out of annoyance.
At least that's what Albert thought, as he couldn't find any humor in that phrase, not even within himself.
But this whole situation really helped increase his score of animosity, to the point that even Panel Missions were assigned.
Albert didn't really mind, as the tension between Gryffindor and Slytherin escalated after the match.
The atmosphere between the two houses was extremely tense, bordering on explosive.
There were frequent skirmishes in the corridors, and Filch was so angry that his mouth was twisted. The number of rule violations had risen sharply in recent times, and he had run out of his supply of parchment rolls.
In the end, it turned into a very nasty incident.
Several Slytherin students cornered Mark, preparing to attack him, when a few Gryffindor students "coincidentally" passed by and got involved in the chaos.
The incident ended with a Gryffindor student growing peculiar scales on their face and a Slytherin student sprouting leeks from their nose.
Professor McGonagall was furious when she found out, and both Gryffindor and Slytherin lost a significant amount of points.
Now, one was at the bottom, and the other had become second to last.
Of course, there were quite a few Slytherin students who wanted to trouble Albert. Being defeated by a Muggle-born first-year was a disgrace to them.
However, Slytherin students didn't have many opportunities. Some tried to trip Albert in the corridors, but one ended up getting stepped on and sent straight to the hospital wing, while another got kicked in the shin, causing tears to flow instantly from the pain.
What angered them the most was that the new student would always look at them with a helpless expression and calmly say, "Are you okay? Why did you stick your leg out?" or similar words.
In short, the implication was that they were innocent and harmless, and everything was their fault.
It's hard to argue against that because it was indeed you who extended your leg to trip someone else, only to accidentally get injured yourself.
As for being cornered?
Albert always had three friends by his side, and he rarely found himself alone. Even if he did, he would mostly stay in the library.
This guy was quite patient. He had been lurking outside the library for a long time, but he hadn't seen anyone come out.
However, that wasn't the worst part.
Not long ago, a third-year Slytherin student, thinking he had caught an opportunity, followed Albert into the boys' restroom. However, he ended up stepping on a wet spot on the floor and tripped himself, even fainting in the process.
Of course, there were more than one of these persistent troublemakers.
George was walking alone in the deserted corridor on the second floor, not far from an abandoned girls' restroom.
He hummed a tune, seemingly unaware that someone was trailing behind him. The fifth-year Slytherin student was sneaking out his wand from his robe, preparing to use a curse to teach George a lesson.
However, when he raised his wand, he found the new student walking ahead of him turning around and smiling at him.
Before the unlucky guy could comprehend what was happening, a faint sound came from behind.
And he collapsed unconscious on the ground.
Those were the last words he heard before passing out.
After being hit by the Stunning Spell and falling to the ground unconscious, he lay there lifeless.
"Another troublemaker!" George approached and kicked the person's body with his toe, grinning. "Well, didn't expect that, did you? I have backup."
"Enough talking. Carry him into the girls' restroom. Let's give everyone a surprise."
A few minutes later, some younger Hufflepuff girls passed by the entrance of the girls' restroom and saw a person with their robes covering their head.
The person was half inside the restroom, hands in a climbing position, seemingly trying to climb out.
Filch, who had rushed over upon hearing the commotion, looked at the big puddle of water on the corridor and couldn't help but tremble.
Wait, did I fall on the ground?
Why would a boy barge into the girls' restroom? What did he see inside? Why was he climbing out in such a miserable state?
The girls' vivid imagination went into overdrive, and by the time Filch found two students passing by and had them help lift the drenched and unlucky person from the ground, their minds were already filled with various speculations.
"The Albert Quartet," who happened to pass by and witnessed the scene, struggled to hold back their laughter, their ribs aching.
Why did that Slytherin student flee the girls' restroom in such a miserable state?
The girls who were the first to discover him displayed their remarkable imagination, speculating on why the boy would barge into the abandoned girls' restroom and why he would frantically escape from it.
"Next time, if someone dares to bother us again, we..." Fred made a gesture of grabbing someone, "...might as well stick their head in the toilet."
"Some jokes shouldn't be taken too far." Albert managed to restrain himself from laughing too extravagantly but couldn't help but remind them, "But next time, if we encounter them again, we can stun them and stuff them into the cubicles of the girls' restroom. I believe the girls won't let them off easily."
"That's a good idea!" George blinked. "I'm suddenly looking forward to it."
"They will definitely be on guard."
"Surely. However, I don't think they can even guess that you know how to use the Disillusionment Charm," Lee Jordan pointed out their biggest advantage. The Slytherin students completely underestimated Albert's abilities.
Because of the Disillusionment Charm, they never even considered the possibility of someone hiding behind them, waiting to ambush them. Moreover, Albert could also use the Stunning Spell to easily knock someone out.
Although some suspected Albert of playing tricks, they soon ruled out the possibility. After all, a Muggle-born wizard, no matter how talented, couldn't master too much magic in a short period.
As for Albert's companions, it was also highly unlikely that any of them could master the Stunning Spell. Even among Slytherin students, there were very few precedents.
So, in the end, the blame fell on the older Gryffindor students.
After all, Mark and his friends had set a precedent!
