Matthew's truth

" There, there Seph. I knew you weren't hiding too deep." He walked towards the edge of the footpath.

" Is there anything else? I've gotta leave. "

" Continue to keep an eye on Alex, but yeah, killing is forbidden. "

A frown overtook her as she received his orders. She had presumed that Maxence would be helping Alexander to deal with the case, but here he was ordering her to spy on him. All she could do was agree to it and follow the order. It had been years since he saw Alex and spying on him was a good opportunity for a talk.

Maxence closed him taking a deep breath. The scent of cold air only made him miserable. He was destined to do this. Even though there was a healthy amount of back-stabbing within the mafia. He didn't want to be one among them. All the plans he calculated had failed the moment Damion interfered.

He couldn't understand the deal with Damion. He was now working for the person who appeared out of nowhere while pretending to be with Alaric. He knew his death was sure if anyone of them loses their patience.

Damion was sure of bloodshed after his talk with Zelda. He left Zelda with no options other than a face off. He had already predicted an encounter after his recent work. Alaric had a last request that he found extremely interesting. Interesting to an extent that the person was no more.

The Mexican dealer's daughter Letty was supposed to be kidnapped, which was swapped by Cassandra. The more he let Alaric do everything, the more failures it bestowed. He decided to finish all at once by himself, while in the process Letty was killed.

He was enjoying the scenery, which was why a smirk of satisfaction played on his lips as he looked at her father. He looked pitiful to the extent that Damion himself wanted to end his struggle.

But he wasn't remorseful or at least that's what he trained himself to be. He glided the sharp point of the blade against his throat and pinned it deeper and deeper as droplets of blood flowed crisscrossing his paled skin which was desperate to survive. He tried to catch his faint breath, begging to spare him.

" How does it feel to taste your own act, Davenport. " His stern whispers tickling those crimson ears as the knife dug deeper into his skin.

George's muffled screams filled the entire room. The more he struggled, the more painful it became. The chains that held him captive jingled when his feet and hands as he wrestled against the force that tied him down. Damion gently withdrew the knife with a smile. A smile that pretended to be calm.

" Honesty would've been simple, Davenport. If you had signed the papers and handed over the deal, but look, the price of your stubbornness was your daughter's life. " He took the knife near George's eye.

" W-Why a-are y-you b-behind i-it? A-Alaric, t-the p-pact w-was w-with h-him. "

" You've been asking the same question again and again without answering me and it isn't even helping you. Are you really that dumb? "

" N-No I-I d-don't k-know w-who y-you a-are. I-I w-won't t-tell y-you e-even i-if i-t c-cost m-my l-life."

Damion knew that when people say they don't fear death, that was the moment they would be the would be the scariest moment in their life. Practically he could've ended George then and there, but the limitless lies he spewed amused him.

" Let's play a game shall we ? " He spoke, throwing the knife up in the air and catching it back.

" Every time you lie, I'll poke you with this perfectly sharp knife. " He took a chair closer and sat down holding the knife.

" Y-You t-think y-you c-can s-scare m-me w-with this. Y-You k-killed m-my d-daughter, t-there's n-nothing I-I c-care a-about. Y-You can't b-blackmail m-me."

Damion was confounded with his dare. Even though he was just seconds away from being killed, he wouldn't spit out the truth. 𝘐𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 !

" What about your eyes? It would be a shame if I accidentally poked one out of its socket." He took the knife closer to his left eye. The fear was visible in George's eyes. Damion knew he was within his control.

" D-Don't ! " His fright was greeted with an awful smile.

" So, you had sold the contract to Matthew? "

" N-No w-who's that? " The moment he lied , the side of his eye was torn. " Aargh ! "

" Oops, my hand slipped ! Whom did you sell it to? "

" I-I d-don't k-know ! " He bawled.

" Aha ! Looks like someone wants the knife again. " Damion took the knife near again.

" N-No p-please d-don't. P-Please s-spare m-me ! " His plea was music to Damion's ear.

" C'mon Davenport, I'm a man with simple rules. I told you to spit it out, but you chose violence. See you are wasting our time. " He shrugged at his request.

" I-I did! I-I sold it to Matthew. The contract originally belonged to him. I just helped him. Please, I have nothing to do with him. "

Damion smirked in victory. He guessed that George must have helped him in turn for something handsome for sure. Either it is money or a position he's desperate for.

" Helped him for a huge sum? " George remained silent at this question, which made Damion's guess correct.

" H-He paid for his sin too. His daughter was raped and killed by one of the ruffians."

" Well, well enough of death threats and cries. Let's start with the first lie you spew. You know this guy, Matthew, very well. Not only that, you are helping him with your life on line.

He orders you but won't risk it by meeting you or any calls or letters. Then there might be a messenger in between and surely enough he will be meeting you soon. "

" H-How did you- "

George had made sure that every information would be buried to grave. He was bewildered the moment Damion blurted out everything.

" You can't hide anything from me darling, your darkest and deepest desire. "

" N-Nonsense, there's no proof." Damion shrugged at his sneer.

" Now, the next lie. He's your bastard, isn't he? " Damion showed him the picture of George's son.

" I-I don't know who this is. " He sighed at his howls. There was no point in keeping him alive after collecting all the information.

" You can lie all you want, unless you tell me your role in this. You know what happens to this little guy. " He kept the picture back in his pocket.

" M-Matthew Gray, he had the contract with him from the very start. A pact with the Mexican drug dealers. Getting it back from the Mexican dealer was all a lie. A cooked-up scenario to sell them. "

" So you were the one who did it, huh? ". George nodded at his question.

" Now then, where's the contract kept? "

" I-I don't know. It's with Matthew. It might be in his place. "

" You know where he lives? "

" N-No". Damion had enough with him. The needed details were all in set and he was of no more usefulness. Keeping him alive would be a headache, which is why he decided to end this pathetic low life.

" Goodbye, you pathetic moron "

Damion said those last words to George and his blade strike through his throat deep enough to go breathless.
